Default Amazon is now shipping without any padding?

I just got The Court Jester BD from Amazon delivered. In an extremely thin plastic bag with zero protection. Nothing. no inner lining. and the thinnest piece of plastic bag that I have ever seen in my life.

Is this the new direction in packaging from Amazon? If so, then I will never order from them again.

Any others experiencing this change?

ps. the case incredibly seems intact. But I chalk that up to luck and don't think I may be as lucky next time

Amazon has been doing this for years. It's one of the reasons I switched to Best Buy several years ago.

Anything I have ever gotten from Best Buy (Target, WM, literally anybody else) was in those sticky corrugated cardboard mailers, that are sealed so tight that it's likely that even the cases get crushed.

Packaging depends on which warehouse/fulfillment center it's shipped from, it's not a company wide thing. I've never gotten anything in a bag from Amazon. Did it ship from somewhere you don't usually have them shipped from? I've bought some stuff before that shipped from out of my region and the packaging varies.

It's worse now. They used to use padded envelopes. Now they aren't even paddled. They're just empty oversized envelopes with no padding at all.

To make matters worse Best Buy is beginning to have stock problems.

I just had a single, standard title from a larger order delivered separately in a box with padding:

If trends hold, I'll definitely be getting my Empire of Screams set in a plastic bag tomorrow.

Yes, I have. If you're going to order Blu's from them, it might not be a bad idea to order multiple items so you can at least possibly get the items shipped in a small box.

That's not a guarantee. If you order multiple, they may just put all of them in a bag. That's if they actually ship all of the items together.

I've seen the OP's "Amazon" problem posted in this forum just about weekly for years now. I order from any company, including international shipments, and there is no single scenario from these major companies. As the comments I quoted suggest, there is no indicator for the consumer as to where the items are shipped from or what kind of packaging will be used, no matter what the item is or how many items are being shipped. With Amazon, I've seen everything from the dreaded plastic bag to overkill packaging for a can of soup that's been padded and double-boxed. Where I live, we have multiple local Amazon warehouses. Same for Target, Best Buy, etc. There is no way to know when you order 4 different items if they're all coming from the same place, but it's safe bet that they are not. Sometimes I simply get 4 different packages delivered all at once. Other times, all 4 in one box, but shipped locally. Sometimes they deliver them directly in a paper grocery bag. I've had the same experiences from Walmart, Best Buy, Target, and others. It is far beyond an "Amazon" problem now. More importantly, I'd focus on the return policies of the companies you choose. Best Buy has the worst, in my experience, while Target often doesn't even ask me to return the item, and Amazon typically lets me get a replacement sent in just a few clicks, then I return the damaged one.

If this was from the recent $12.99 sale, I got Love Story and it arrived in the usual blue and white bubble mailer.

I’ve gotten plenty of packages from Amazon over the last 2 months and haven’t had anything shipped like that thankfully.

I know I have gotten single movies in a better/thicker bag. Nothing like this one today.
This could be a real deal breaker for me. Some delivery folks literally throw the package on the porch. with zero protection this sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Not that I order movies from Amazon too often, it's always been in the usual blue and white bubble mailers, or once in a while, in a fiber-padded brown envelope.

Both don't do much to protect the items, and both get tossed around like pieces of trash.

It seems to vary and from what I've read, Amazon demands employees to basically pack orders as quick as humanly possible.

I received a steelbook y'day in a box with no protection inside at all. The Amazon delivery person threw it over the gate where it lay for a couple of hours soaking up the SoCal rain. Retrieved later in the evening to find a dented steelbook. Great going every step of the way, Amazon ! Exemplary practices

Just want to state that I ordered the steelbook of Black Adam from Best Buy, and it shipped in a bubble mailer. Granted, it arrived safely, and it was a very SNUG bubble mailer, not like the standard Amazon tear-open ones, but they definitely aren't shipping exclusively in boxes.

I try not to order from them when I can help it. Normally though, I get those thin white and blue bubble mailers. One time I got a plastic bag with no padding at all. Similar to the picture attached below:
