![]() ![]() There are at least four current models of UHD Blu-ray players based on the MediaTek SoC (like the Oppo). Reavon here and Magnetar here. I believe Sony has discontinued their UHD Blu-ray players but some may still be available and they were MediaTek based also. If one is willing to take the risk there is AliExpress with some models here. |

I don't post here much but it's important that we stop this Physical Vs. Digital cat fights and enjoy whatever pleases us. There will always be 100s of other things to worry about in life. Both techs will co-exists at least for many more years to come and let's try to embrace, adapt and enjoy. |

Here, it is very tame compared to what it was like on eTown in the days of DVD vs. DIVX DVD. Also quite heated in the days of Blu-ray vs. HD DVD at AVS. The same happened there as in, long after everyone got onboard with Blu-ray some continued to heckle us Blu-ray supporters. Have you ever watched this video? : [Show spoiler]

I wouldn’t be so keen to celebrate the demise of disc rentals if I were you. There were too many people drinking the kool aid with digital movies rather than making the most of discs superior quality. Last edited by Steedeel; 01-26-2023 at 09:25 AM. |

I have Disney+
I have purchased movies on iTunes I have physical media. Which of these do you think will last the longest ? I used to think online movie services were a threat to physical media but subscription seems to be the significantly bigger fish and in my mind it's more of a threat to my cloud service collection (iTunes) Online movie lockers are so irrelevant with the rise of subscription services. Most of my iTunes movies are available on a subscription service now and if they discontinued them it wouldn't really matter. iTunes still sells music too even though most people prefer a music subscription lately. Only one of my kids is interested in inheriting the physical media collection and the iTunes movies have no survivorship benefits. My answer to this question would be I believe D+ will last longest because people pay for it by the minute and that's a very good business model. Last edited by bhampton; 01-26-2023 at 01:31 PM. |

There will be no swallowing. Peacock is part of NBC Universal. They are a big enough company to buy Paramount Global. That's the only way it would happen. All they would do is go back to the business plan they used to have: license out their content to other streaming services. |

I dare you . . .I double dare you . . . to find a post made by me that states "Cinemas will die." I have ALWAYS as in never waivered, said that ACCORDING to Disney on their Disney Plus Day 2020, Disney+ will be profitable BY EOY 2024. So please - take your hatred and bullshit and peddle it some place else. |

You used that statement to back up your argument about the wellbeing (or otherwise) of Disney+ On a few occasions, so it’s only natural people are going to question that down the line. By the way, don’t get so triggered. It’s only a discussion between two people with very opposing views. Last edited by Steedeel; 01-26-2023 at 04:27 PM. |
