I know, I haven't even paid off my tv yet, and I'm already looking into buying a bigger and better set. Does anyone know if there is anything coming out that will trump pioneer's new plasma technology?

Sounds like a good set to me!
Personally I use a Sony Bravia LVD 46" for all my gaming and Blu-ray (and DVD and TV) viewing.
LCD is definitely the way to go IMO.

For gaming, your best bet is an LCD which is what I have and I play probably 60hrs a week playing games. Usually 10-12hrs at a time with no problems. Also they look just as good IMHO, and cost a whole lot less.
