Where are you buying 4K titles at $5.00?? Inquiring minds want to know?

I received that 20% off video game coupon, too. I don’t see anything that I want, but I will keep checking throughout the week.

Indeed, where ARE you buying 4k titles at $5? New? Used? The retailer price trend is definitely not headed downward. Some old/older AAA catalog blurays may periodically see big discounts, but no question AA and even somewhat more cultish films are going higher, and are seeing few/no sales from retailers or publishers.

The used market has fallen apart so you can get some really good deals. As for in store 5 dollar 4ks I can name about 10 to 12 that got their with a fair amount of effort and deal stacking.

In years past there have been some $3.96 to $7 clearance 4K deals at Walmart, Target or Best Buy, and many Lionsgate 4Ks have seen $7-$9 prices during the holidays. Finding other 4Ks for around $5 on a regular basis doesn't happen. The only deals I have seen are random items at thrift stores or mom & pop used merchandise. None of the larger chains have good prices.

There is a mom & pop used store in my area which has some reasonably priced recent used movies. It feels like The Wherehouse inside because the owner bought most of his shelves and signage from them before they got bought out and disappeared.

Went to Target today and saw they slimmed down the physical media section even more. It used to be a new release section and a very small shelf of BDs. Now, it’s just a small New Release section. I’m getting concerned about this and the future of physical media…

I got Wonder Woman in 4K for only $5 at Bookoff, which is a place that sells used movies. Considering what’s left of B&M stores now, they are probably the best physical media store left. They sell some great used movies for cheap prices. The issue is, 4K discs are such a gamble to buy used because players are very sensitive to scratches so you have to hope and pray that the disc is in good condition. So far, I’ve been lucky and never got one that couldn’t play. So I’m hoping my lucky streak continues. Though, I do try to avoid buying used if I could.

You overpaid for that film, bro Just kidding. I just don't like the film, so I'm being obnoxious.

But yeah, Bookoff is an okay place to get movies. I've found a few good deals there. Definitely good for picking up popular movies on the cheap. They price gouge for OOP films though.

Watching Gal Gadot in 4K is always a treat!

The slipcover is a bit on the beat up side, but the discs were scratch free and the digital copy was still good. So for $5, I ain’t complaining.

Yesterday I was watching a MetalJesusRocks youtube video where he visited the Hawaii Bookoff stores. The selection looked pretty amazing. I would kill to have one of these stores nearby. The only stores with used movies around here are pawn shops and thrift shops and I'm grateful even for those. I'm usually the only person looking through the movies at those stores.

All of you mentioning Bookoff, etc. are lucky. We don't have those stores in my city at all. We have almost no thrift stores. None of the Pawn shop chains in my city buy or sell used movies anymore so they never have anything. Goodwill maybe has like 5 Blu-rays in their store when I check and it's always very common stuff like Harry Potter or Lord of The Rings and titles everyone already has.

There is a regional bookstore chain called Bookmans that does sell used media, but their prices for a 4K movie are anywhere from $12 minimum to $20 or higher, depending on title. That's a used price! Minimum price for a Blu-ray is $6 and up no matter how crappy the title is. They'll sell used Blu-rays for higher than the brand new price often!

I just can't buy media cheap in my city at all anymore. I'm jealous when I see the deals people can get or watching Youtube videos of hauls people get for really cheap at Pawn shops / thrift stores.

I occasionally go to the Bookoff in Kakaako. Yes, quite a selection of movies, but the prices are pretty high. I've left empty-handed the last couple of visits.

Same for me. A few HPBs around but prices there are now basically at/near msrp.

I hear they have a pretty strict return policy as well.

Bought Dazed and Confused during one of those Target Circle offer times.

Just got the delayed email: March 7th!

I can’t remember. Do they usually stick to those delayed dates, or is there a good chance I’ll get it sooner?

It might get cancelled cause looks like Target removed a bunch of Criterions.

The Criterions may come back. Those could have been momentarily turned off while Target does its sales. It's happened before.

Yeah, they are very random with prices. Not sure how they base their prices on each item. But when they have multiple copies of the same item, they all have different prices. I really haven’t noticed any connection between the prices and the condition of each copy. I can see two very pristine copies of the same movie priced very differently. So I find that very unusual. So yeah, it’s a searching game finding the right movie for the right price. But hey, that’s the fun of it!

It's funny that after Lightyear and Strange World did so poorly for Disney, they were quick to announce on their call this week, Toy Story 5, Frozen 3 and Zootopia 2.
It appears they will not carry Strange World in Target stores at all. Is this the first major Disney film to not be carried in Target stores?
