Well I guess that means I'll be buying Die Hard 1-3 and renting 4 for the time being.

I mean, I KNOW I'm going to buy the unrated as soon as it comes out...why double dip. It's not a boycott, it's sensible use of my money.

Exactly my thinking.

Maybe Fox should have just delayed it on Blu.

I agree.

I'm buying the Die Hard 1-3 boxset, but I'll wait for the Unrated LFOTH.

I'll probably be buying both. I can't wait to see this again, and I'll just Netflix the SD Unrated version to see if it's worth the double dip. Life's too short to deny myself just to save 25 bucks.

Am I the only one who has no interest in replacing my DVD's with BD's that don't import over all the bonus material?

I have the 2 disc collector's editions of the first 3 Die Hard movies (and the 2 disc sets of the first 2 Spider-Man movies) on DVD and I'm having a hard time justifying the cost of the BD's just to get the movies with very little additional content.

Thoughts anyone?

I dont replace them for the bonus material. I replace them for the movie. I suppose if you have no intrest in seeing the movie in high def then there is no reason to upgrade.

No, I have a lot of interest in seeing the movies in hi-def, but at $100 I think it would cool to have all the previously released material ported over so I could get rid of my DVDs. Trust me when I say I'm not complaining...not at all. Like I said, just having a hard time justifying the purchase. And after all these years of buying DVDs, I'm also a little weary of double dips.

I've found that slightly annoying too as I'm looking forward to replacing the DVD copies of my favourite catalogue titles with BD without having to keep both. I've come up with a solution although it's not completely full-proof. In the case of two-disc DVD editions where the majority of extras are found on the second disc, I will keep the second disc and sell the first disc (containing the movie) to a friend of mine who has been buying my old DVDs. He only cares about watching movies and has little to no interest in special features. The extras are only SD but that is likely how they would have been presented on a BD release anyway. Now, I'm still looking for bulk 2-disc blu-ray cases to organize my collection to include the BD movie plus the DVD containing the "extras". No luck so far.

i hear where you are coming from, but for me seeing the movie alone in HD is def worth the money, i personally could care less about the extra stuff.

Sucks that they are releasing only the rated version, but guys, has anyone thought that MAYBE they are telling the truth? Maybe it WAS too late to get the unrated version to BD in time for the release date and maybe someone at Fox thought they would release the rated version jsut to keep us happy in the mean time?? I know a lot of people are pissed about past blatant double dips, but it doesn't mean everyone is out to screw you.

That said, I like some of the ideas I have been hearing in this thread. A coupon for a discount on the rated version or a disc exchange sounds really interesting and I'd probably go for either. I'd also like Fox to give us a release date for the unrated BD, that would prove to me they are serious about getting out the content we want.

The image at the bottom with all four Die Hard covers clearly shows the Unrated edition.

I don't think Fox will do a disk exchange for the Unrated if you already have the rated. A $ 10 cupon would be nice they would probably only do that with the reciept or photo copy of it.
