Just recently copped this on vhs. Kelly Preston, what a gem, and gone too soon. Seein Travolta get teared up during his Oscar Memorial intro, I couldn’t help but think that Kelly was on his mind.

I happen to agree with him (Thomsen--not Burt), although I wasn't much of a Burt fan in the first place. You're also underselling what Burt did. He never even saw the film, so his "opinion" is kind of moot, to be frank.

He didn't respect Anderson due to his young age at the time, and said that he wanted to hit him. He also fired his agent afterwards (for having the absolute gall to get him a great role in a great film that was adored by critics and audiences alike, and which earned him his sole Oscar nomination).

Boogie Nights is easily one of the best movies Burt was ever in, and the last good picture he ever appeared in. His hubris and his comments show that he was washed up, out of touch, and still completely full of himself at that point. That's a bad combination.

I know that some folks of a certain age absolutely love Burt, and I'm happy that they'll be getting a host of his films from Kino. I'm personally hoping that this is just about it for the deluge of Burt announcements, because they do nothing for me.

Sean is one of my favorite artist. His work with Ed Brubaker are some of the best comic series currently out.

Besides the Morricone score, my interest has become more piqued by Leonor now that I know it was directed by one of Buñuel’s sons.
