Sacrament reminds of the "Great Southern Trendkill" from Pantera. When Pantera released "Far Beyond Driven" Pantera got huge and everyone expected another CD like that. Then GSTK came out..and meh..its ok..maybe a few good songs
The Great Southern Trendkill is easily some of their BEST work.

Floods
Drag The Water
TGSTK
Sandblasted Skin
SUicide Note 1 & 2
13 Steps
ect.

Waaayyyy better album than Far Beyond Driven

as for Lamb of God, I've always felt they were overrated crap. SOme solid riffage here and there and good drumming but that's about it. in my book for them.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on that. Don't get me wrong, Floods and Drag the Waters are among my favorite songs from them but as a whole..TGSTK didn't come close to Far Beyond Driven.

Phil with his smooth and still hard edged voice = Cowboys From Hell, Reinventing The Steel, Vulgar Display Of Power and Far Beyond Driven = Great Albums

Phil with his screaming, death metal-like voice = The Great Southern Trendkill = No Thank You Sir.

Far Beyond Driven or Vulgar Display is really a tough choice. I would go with Vulgar because i first experienced Pantera with Walk ... therefore slightly ahead ... Vulgar Display of Power

I know it is the minority here, but other boards I visit I am actually in the majority ... i think FBD is their 2nd worst album. Reinventing The Steel seems their weakest effort, and it was still solid.

I'd rank it:

The Great Southern Trendkill
Vulgar Display of Power
Cowboys From Hell
Far Beyond Driven
Reinventing The Steel
*insert all the glam stuff here* haha

..... I'd put Reinventing third behind Vulgar and Cowboys......Crazy talk is all that is...

Vulgar
TGSTK
CFH - my first exposure to Pantera...I was 15...when that came out...
Reinventing the Steel

It just didn't have the same feel as the other albums....Phil and Dimebag made those songs talk though, . I don't think anyone liked the Hair metal version of Pantera.

Pantera was such a special band, just think how big they would of been now if Dime was still alive

I agree with you, I think they were relatively big as it was, especially during the release of Reinventing, but I hear ya, Pantera touring with Metallica, my wallet would weep.

They did a few shows out of the US together....Metallica wouldn't tour with Pantera here..... I do remember reading about shows in Mexico and the UK

Phil's rants were the best. Every time I saw Pantera/SJR/Down he always would have at the least one "What the f*** you lookin' at boy? I'll knock you out." moment hahaha

At least afterwards I didn't want to knock him out, unlike Peter Dolving of "The Haunted".

I liked The Haunted's first two albums but then Peter began to talk... and talk. Now I pray for a day when a new Witchery album will surface.

Album I'm praying for.... The Three Tremors....It was a project between Tim Owens, Rob Halford and Geoff Tate. Supposedly Tate didn't like the musical direction it was taking so he wanted out.
