![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Bruce Lee at Golden Harvest Blu-ray Bruce Lee at Golden Harvest 4K Blu-ray Bruce Lee at Golden Harvest 4K Blu-ray (Arrow Video Exclusive cover) BRUCE LEE AT GOLDEN HARVEST - ARROW EXCLUSIVE - LIMITED EDITION 4K ULTRA HD ![]() BRUCE LEE AT GOLDEN HARVEST LIMITED EDITION 4K ![]() BRUCE LEE AT GOLDEN HARVEST LIMITED EDITION BLU-RAY ![]() When former child actor and Hollywood TV sidekick Bruce Lee returned to his native Hong Kong in 1971 to star in two films for fledgling company Golden Harvest, movie history was made thanks to one of the most iconic partnerships between star and studio that cinema has ever seen. In only a handful of films, Lee high-kicked his way into audiences’ imaginations forever, thanks to his blistering screen presence and his masterful ‘Jeet Kune Do’ fighting technique. The first two starring vehicles for Lee, The Big Boss and Fist of Fury (both directed by Lo Wei), smashed all box office records in Hong Kong and made him the most famous face on the continent. Lee asserted his artistic independence by directing, writing and starring in The Way of the Dragon, arguably his most thrilling and personal film. Tragically, on the cusp of achieving the international stardom he had long strived for, Bruce Lee died suddenly in 1973, aged only 32. Not to be outdone by the tidal wave of ‘Bruceploitation’ films that followed, Golden Harvest completed two posthumous films using unreleased footage, 1978’s Game of Death and its 1981 sequel, as well as two official documentaries, the first of which hit cinemas only three months after Lee’s death. Today, five decades since his passing, Bruce Lee continues to be the most beloved and influential martial artist in the world. This definitive collection, featuring fresh and exclusive 4K restorations by Arrow Video from the best available film materials, hours of brand new bonus features and previously unreleased footage - including the extended Mandarin Cut of The Big Boss, now ten minutes longer than any version ever released on video worldwide, and the never-before-seen ‘log fight’ from the original Game of Death shoot - is the ultimate tribute to Bruce Lee’s enduring legacy and fruitful collaboration with Golden Harvest. Sadly, I don't think that is happening. Criterion probably still own the rights here since they did the BD set not too long ago.
It would be the similar to Police Story where the rights to 1/2 belong to Criterion here but Eureka did the 4Ks overseas. |

This is stunning. New work, new work on the audio, finding footage, new extras, great packaging and even getting WB to let them use some form of ETD. The only downside is that they had to use the old disc and weren’t given the 2K scan Criterion got. So I’ll have to hang onto the Criterion just for that and otherwise this is the set that these films always should’ve had.
Goodbye screwy color timing!!! |

Super complicated specs, but from what I can gather it's the following so far...
Bruce Lee at Golden Harvest (Limited Edition) The Big Boss + Mandarin Cut + English Export Cut Fist of Fury + English Export Cut The Way of the Dragon + Japanese Cut Enter the Dragon (Warner Bros BD) Game of Death + Hong Kong Cut Game of Death II + Hong Kong Cut Bruce Lee: The Man & The Legend Bruce Lee: The Legend Bruce Lee at Golden Harvest 4K (Limited Edition) / Bruce Lee at Golden Harvest 4K (Arrow Exclusive Limited Edition) The Big Boss (UHD) + Mandarin Cut (UHD) + English Export Cut (BD) Fist of Fury (UHD) + English Export Cut (BD) The Way of the Dragon (UHD) + Japanese Cut (BD) Enter the Dragon (Warner Bros BD) Game of Death (UHD) + Hong Kong Cut (BD) Game of Death II (BD) + Hong Kong Cut (BD) Bruce Lee: The Man & The Legend (BD) Bruce Lee: The Legend (BD) So it seems like there are 4-5 actual UHD discs in the 4K UHD releases, with the rest being regular BD? The specs about the different cuts are strangely worded and slightly confusing, but also quite specific in other ways. I suppose we'll get clarification soon? |

The Mandarin cut of The Big Boss?
![]() ![]() ![]() I'll have to get this set! Wonder how they managed to restore/reconstruct that, I thought it was only shown in a few places in HK (and in the UK) in the 70's The only downside is not including the theatrical cut of Enter the Dragon, from what I understand there's a normal BD set as well as a 4K set. |

How is Arrow UK in regards to shipping internationally? I prefer the site exclusive box, but not at the expense of it being poorly packaged.

I just priced it out because I really like the site limited packaging. But to have it shipped here to the US they still charge all the UK taxes and charge for shipping so it works out to about $180 USD and that’s not including any conversion fees your bank or PayPal will charge so add another 10 or so to that.
$200 ish for a single boxset is too much but this looks like it will really do the films justice finally. |

One of the extras says "Newly uncovered deleted scenes from The Big Boss" - the Mandarin cut looks like it will be included in full for the first time, so what does this mean?
![]() Also the saw-in-the-head scene was actually included in an original print once upon a time (I think so at least). Last edited by grim_tales; 04-14-2023 at 07:04 PM. |

On one of the HKL DVDs, I'm sure I remember it said something like "This print (referring to the Mandarin version at least) does still exist and is in the hands of a private collector, unfortunately it is not available for sale or distribution" - so what changed over the years?

Even so, trying to think back, i'm sure i've heard ref to the scene as i stated, I'm wondering if it was on the Bey Logan commentary on the first release of The Big Boss DVD on HKL. When the Platinum 2 disc versions of the Bruce films came out, I upgraded and sold off my old versions, it was only afterwards that I discovered the platinum edition not longer had the Logan commentary, so i no longer have access to it to check ...
