Why'd you delete the first post saying this? lol

I didnae do any photo comparisons for FC because the movie is mostly dark and dimly lit so there's not much point, the camera would just make them look even darker and would struggle to resolve the highlight detail. And it's not got any framing weirdness going on either so again, not much point in doing photos.

Just rewatched this (again) last night in hype for the PIC s3 finale, this time getting to pump the speakers up a bit more since the wife was out — visual gorgeousness aside....my goodness does that Jerry Goldsmith score give me chills in all the right moments. The Enterprise-E going to warp toward Earth, the fanfare as it arrives in the nick of time to save the Defiant, the deep bassy tones of walking through Borg-assimilated decks, the triumphant space walk music after jettisoning the deflector, and the climax when those quantum torpedoes miss the Phoenix and Data just goes full badass smashing those plasma tanks. Would be remiss not to mention the feels hearing the Alexander Courage Trek theme come in as the Paramount logo hits as well as right before the credits then — BOOM — TMP theme.

I do enjoy Dennis McCarthy's Generations score, which I rewatched earlier this week, but damn I think Jerry Goldsmith just elevates every movie he scored to the point where I always question whether I dare put First Contact over TWoK or TUC in the rankings.

Anyway — smart move (and cheat code) of Matalas and Barton to use Goldsmith tracks in PIC s3; I totally see why. Can't wait to watch the finale later.

Yep.

When movie scores move me so much it always makes me somewhat sad about how (most) modern movies have skewed away from melody and in your face scores in favor of atmospheric background music.

My First Contact UHD just arrived from Amazon (along with the other three), but there is no digital code in my First Contact. The shrink wrapping on it didn't look any different than the others, but the insert isn't inside.

Hate to do a return for something like that, but I do want the digital code. Has anyone had this happen, and will Paramount provide it if I show them proof of purchase?

I’ve read several others also missing the DC from this particular release. So, there may have been some issues in the packaging stage that missed copies. You can contact Paramount CS and provide pictures/receipt and they should give you a new code.

I bought all 4 of the TNG movies on 4K not sure why but First Contact and Insurrection the digital codes are just HDX the other 2 are UHD.
