The Blu-ray comes from a 2K restoration but I’m fairly convinced this came from a lower quality 35mm print and not the OCN. The grain and clarity tends to fluctuate. White are overblown, especially in daytime scenes. Colors are murky at some points but are adequate. There are certain scenes where I’m convinced it came from a VHS tape because the textures look very digitalized. Tons of scratches and other damages that can be seen in the bigger screen as well. Overall, it’s a very bad remaster but it may just be the fact that there isn’t a better source to restore. If this really is the film’s first release since the VHS era, then it’s still worth checking out for the film alone but don’t expect any great A/V quality.
Thank you for taking the time to inform me. I appreciate it. I might get it if it hits under $10 in the future
Thanks again.

I think there was quite a time delay between the first announcement and the actual release of the Blu-ray, so I assume that Kino spent that time searching for better film elements.

This site did announce that it had a 4K restoration, but the second announcement did state a 2K remaster. Don't know what happened in between announcements. This transfer probably utilizes the best surviving elements of this film, which is unfortunate, but this film probably could've been one step away from being a lost film much like Wake in Fright was (Both had VHS releases but didn't have another release until the Blu-ray era). That said, it is an absolutely phenomenal film, and I would consider it a gem although I understand that some people aren't huge fans of the film. Side Note: Really surprised this film passed with a PG, there is a scene or two that I feel like would be borderline R rating.
