Fox will likely crap on Deadpool with a really shoddy movie should it ever get made. Such is their track record at these things so far. Practically all of the Fox made Marvel movies come from the Michael Bay school of screenplay and character development. X2 is pretty much the lone exception.

I've heard Martin Campbell's name in association with the GL movie as a director and since Casino Royale, I will trust him over whatever hack Fox puts on it. The big question now is does GL get made. I've got no problems with Reynolds as a person and think he'll be able to pull off the crazy test pilot who gets the powerful ring.

I'm just hoping this is good to lead to a GL Corps type thing. Even if it's animated and not live action. GL is one of the best superhero books on the racks these days.

With no script yet, it would be surprising to see Deadpool hitting in 2011, or it would have to go through a really accelerated prodcution schedule, good recipe for disaster. Let's hope for a 2012 release (2011 should see Iron Man 2 as well anyway, and maybe Magneto as well).
Not a big fan of Green Lantern, but I'll keep an open mind and waiting to see what Warner and Reynolds will do with it in 2011
Given what an excellent director, actors and the ad hoc budget could do for Batman, who knows?

Fan Art of Reynolds as The Lantern

Quote:
The film’s budget isn’t finalized but Warner Bros is hoping to begin shooting in January, hoping to have the films in theaters for the previously announced June 17th 2011 release date. Last we heard, Warners was planning to shoot the film at Fox Studios Australia in Sydney (to take advantage of tax rebates), with a budget of around $150 million.

Casino Royale director Martin Campbell is set to helm the project based on a screenplay by Greg Berlanti (Everwood, Eli Stone), Marc Guggenheim (Law & Order, Eli Stone) and Michael Green (Smallville, Heroes). The Green Lantern character was created by writer Bill Finger and artist Martin Nodell in All-American Comics #16, published in July 1940. The Green Lantern possesses a power ring that gives him control over the physical world as long as the wielder has sufficient willpower and strength to wield it

Just realized the mask looks a little chessy on Green lantern. Looks like one of those cheap mask from a masquerade party. It might look alright in comics, but not in live-action. Hopefully I'm wrong when the movie comes out.

You're not the only one, the mask is something I was worried about looking cheesy. I wouldn't mind a redesign of it or even no mask like Stewart. I hope they don't do the spandex thing as well, it should be more Batman than Fantastic Four.

Glad I'm not the only one who think so. I don't know how they can redesign the mask without it looking kinda cheesy, unless they cover his whole face, instead of just his eyes and nose. But that would change his trademark mask.

So GL fans fill me in. Is Hal Jordan comical or more serious? I'm having a hard time with Reynolds, although I'm sure once I see a trailer, I'll fill much better.

http://www.jlu.mushpark.com/index.php/Hal_Jordan

Quote:
Hal Jordan is a fearless daredevil. To Hal there is no challenge, no fight, or adventure that too great to be attempted. He's often the first one to charge into a battle and put his own self in danger to protect others. Hal's father, a test pilot, encouraged his middle son to be brave and a pilot like himself. After his father's death, Hal continue the habit and continued to push himself to the next level with no concern for his own safety. As an adult, Hal's being fearless seem to be a core personality trait that most his others personality traits stem.

Hal Jordan is a stubborn man. He doesn't take no for an answer. He often doesn't take advice or criticism well either. Hal often makes snap judgment decisions and acts on impulse and gut. Hal rumbles through a fight or a situation shooting first and asking questions later. It gives Hal the abilities to have an indomitable and exhaustible will along with being decisive. Though his stubbornness leads Hal to finding himself in situation where he would be better served to be more flexible.

Hal is a loyal man. He will put his friends and his duties beyond his own personal desires or safety. He's the first to have a friend's back in a fight. Though, oddly enough, most of Hal's friendships start with him throwing the first punch.

Hal is a button pusher. Hal likes to do what he wants how he wants and when he wants. He questions authority when it does not make sense to him. Though he usually waits for an answer and when he does not like it he punches the decision maker.

Hal is a hero. He stands up for those that can not stand up for themselves. He fights those that would harm others and tread upon the liberties of others. It's this trait that sets Hal apart from the other arrogant, hot headed, daredevil fighter pilot.

That gives a pretty good summary of his personality

I think he'd work well as Gardner, but I also think he can do Hal Jordan great, guess we'll find out for sure when we get a trailer in like 9 months - a year.
