The 4k with HDR will likely have a more nuanced color palette that doesn't bother you as much, when you upgrade. A lot of recent masters are made for 4k with HDR and when put on a BD don't look quite right. Also exaggerated color grading can often be a side effect of lowering the color space, and it will look more nuanced with a wide color gamut.
Firstly, thanks for the reply, I really appreciate that.

However, these two points I raised comparing the DVDs to the Blu Rays I do believe need addressing:

In First Blood, when Rambo is first being arrested, his reaction shots before he puts his hands on the car are much darker than the wide shots. This is not an issue on the DVD.

In Part II, when Rambo has Murdock over the table and slams the knife down by his head, the shots of Murdock change wildly in colour tone and grading. His skin goes almost purple after the knife hits. Again, this is not an issue on the DVD and Murdock looks consistently the same before and after the knife slam.

I'm not saying these masters are great, but again you're comparing them to DVD in order to say they're wrong. There's no reason to believe the DVD is "correct." Unless someone gets a look at a finished film print we're all kind of guessing. The black levels are pretty objectively raised, but otherwise it's hard to say what's right or wrong.

Instead of calling it "Mad Max 2" here, it has the US title of "Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior". I am referring to the BDs and UHD. It should just be "Mad Max 2" here.

Yeah someone else explained it too, I got ya. Just for clarification though it was always just called "The Road Warrior" here, not "Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior." Until the 4k packaging anyway.

Also the actual film itself was never changed. That would actually bother me.

It hasn’t been canceled. It also hasn’t been announced yet. I’m going to Vancouver in 2 weeks to interview an original crew member from First Blood for the new special features and planning to travel to interview David Morrell later in July. I’m so sorry to inconvenience you… but we’re producing it on our timeline, not yours. If you can’t wait, I understand. There is already a 4K version out there. You can buy it and move on with your life, but please stop insinuating that I’ve been lying to everyone.

Cliff, is there any chance you can have a word with someone at Lionsgate and ask them if a uncut Kickboxer (1989) 4K is ever possible please? They don't seem to be doing anything with the JCVD classic. Such a waste.

Oh yeah, I know it was just called "The Road Warrior" in the US.

It is just the usual lack of respect for AU product that annoys me. Lack of Australian covers/record labels on record re-issues for instance. Drives me nuts! Like the hideous yellow US cover for Business As Usual which was used by MFSL for their release or the UK cover and labels used for INXS re-issues. The WEA logo could have been licensed from Warners, it is not hard. INXS were WEA, not Mercury and not Atlantic. Not to mention the lack of original Australian AC/DC records/covers! This does not happen with UK or US bands.

Very excited after reading that post. Only thing I wish, is for an awesome, stiff box and regular cases with original artwork along with other printed goodies. Why can we not get boxes like that anymore? :'(

I’m just psyched for this box set when it hits because it’s going to have a lotta love put into it and be well worth the wait!

It will come in good time. If special features are still being worked on then it will likely be next year.

Hoping the Audio on Last Blood is closer to the Australian BD (which was awesome) than the US 4K UHD (which was tame by comparison). The Australian disc is easily my go-to version, both for the longer cut and the significantly better audio.

Speaking of audio, fingers crossed for some lovely Jerry Goldsmith features across this set, or at least one decent documentary.

That makes sense. This is the year of Rocky that should be the year of Rambo.

Once again thank you Cliff and your team for all of your passion, dedication and hard work. I'd rather wait until it's good and ready than rushed out. I look forward to the finished product when it's released

Definitely looking forward to the DV release, hopefully it'll be in EU too and in a similar steelbook case like the US only release was.

I suppose I'll have to pay the import then, still better than buying the current set and missing out on DV I guess, annoyed that it's one of the only steelbook tin foam cases that's US only (along with the Avengers collection one)
