Yeah, there's definitely some stereoization in the surrounds in the Archival Versions' audio. And the '92 cut never had a six-track mix, and I think they used bits of the Workprint audio in spots for its 5.1 track (which likely contributed to the slight errors in it). My guess is the audio people did a little tweaking without Ridley realizing it.

But stereoization aside, the 5.1 tracks on the US and International cuts sound vintage enough for me. And the 2.0 on the '92 Director's Cut seems to be error-free. It even includes the alternate "I want more life" audio take that was always in the 2-channel stereo tracks, but curiously missing on the 2.0 tracks for the US & Intl. Cuts on the Archival Versions disc. Incidentally, that's why I believe those 2.0 tracks to be (at least partial) downmixes of the 5.1.

Also while I’ve never been able to properly do a side by side comparison across several releases but is the audio in the sequence where Batty shoves the nail in his hand supposed to have the audio doubling (ie he gasps twice instead of once)??? It does this on every cut on the Archival Disc but not in the FC or Workprint.

With Zaslav in charge, all forms of the doc in WB archives might be soon deleted for the lul$. So an HD release will never happen.

Dunno whether or not I'll actually play the damn thing as I find these tabletop games kind of indiminating (hell, even most board games scare me off - one look at the instructions and I'm like nah, can't be bothered). The deluxe rule book is interesting, though, as there's plenty of (presumably canon) in-universe contextual stuff, and there's some goodies included like newspaper cut-outs and Off-world leaflets and shit.

Every 6 months that this subject gets brought up, I say "Father" is more in-character for Roy; and Tyrell's calm, smiling response I've always interpreted to be if Roy stroked his ego a bit calling him "Father".

I consider the vulgar version entirely out of sync with the rest of the scene. If someone told me "I want more life **cker" I would be more inclined to not let them get so close, and I would not be as c0ck sure of myself as Tyrell was. It was entirely out of keeping with how the characters were acting in the rest of the scene.

And I agree, Roy is stroking Tyrell's ego. I find that it is hard to do that once you have shown you are murderous, which Roy did with the delivery of the vulgar version. Father was always the right line.

The game is excellent, but the remaster hardly counts as a remaster. Better to get the OG version for PC on GOG.

So, my 5-disc Collectors Edition BD set has succumbed to rot. The BDs still play for now despite visible signs on the data surface, but the DVDs are totally dead. I can't watch the documentary now.

Come on Warner, not only have you not given the other cuts the 4K treatment they deserve, you still haven't kept the BD discs in print...

That release was pressed in North America circa 2007, wasn't it? Not a good vintage of disc, unfortunately. I believe that's the same era as all those early Lionsgate discs that went bad (American Psycho etc).

Those same DVDs come with the 4k UHD. My HD DVD Warner set is also nasty looking with multiple dead discs but luckily the director's cut disc still runs fine, I have final cut on UHD now so the only old disc I still use is the DC/International cut disc.
