$1.00031B for Barbie...she did it. Also Gerwig is the first female director to surpass $1B. I threw that last bit in for BB, he likes posting records and he's presently away from the forum right now.

I will have to say, "Sound of Freedom" is so far the box office movie surprise of the year and it is still doing very well.

I wonder if Meg 2 is going to match the original's $530m box office gross. It's definitely not going to reach the first film's US gross of $145m.

Yet it seems they are. Most of the first movie's success came from overseas and it seems to be doing around the same again, so i'm not sure how it was a fluke. There's a demand for monster movies, most of them are much more popular internationally than in North America, which is why they keep on making more. There's a clear pattern that has been established for close to a decade now for these kind of movies.
