Brad, how about dipping into the MultiCom library? It hasn't been completely picked clean yet. I'm still hoping someone licenses Mutant (1984) and redoes it properly. The Code Red disc is unwatchable.

It’s well shot and has an oddball story but it adds a lot of charm to it. It’s also one of the first entires from Rapi until they got really wild in the mid 80s but you can see little pieces kinda set up for more wackiness but they never pulled the trigger.

It’s also a lost slasher film that never had a release outside of Indonesia. Rapi couldn’t even remember if it made it on VHS in Indonesia and we never found any evidence that it had one. It did have a bootleg VCD but it was the TV version where all the blood/gore was cut out. It took me a long ass time to get that film out in the states and pretty personal for me, too.
Siriala has been known as the Indonesian Friday the 13th for years due to its similarities.

Right but if you break down how much of it is like F13 it’s a low percentage. It’s different from films like Roh and India’s Idu Saadhya which mirror the films almost identically.

The year on that list is incorrect, this is the film. It's from 2007.

Is it still written as 1977 somewhere? My list had it as that date, but was corrected fairly quickly after the error was pointed out.

Fairly confident that there will always be something they release that you will dig mate. On my 2nd sub and have zero regrets so far.
Have you seen Exposed to Danger? Kind of like Taiwan's ode to Friday the 13th, but, as with Srigala, there's a lot more to it including WIP vibes, glass-laced egg rolls, the most annoying bltch of a co-worker on film and some copycat love also thrown Psycho's way. Awesome little film. I believe the dubbed version (under an alternate title) has some differences, but I haven't watched that one.

It's crazy how many of these foreign slashers took wholesale from American films. There's a bit in Devil Returns that mimics the closet scene in Halloween to a T, right down to the heroine wearing a similar shirt to Strode. I legit think it's one of the best slasher films out there though with so much to recommend it. Great, great stuff. There's even an acrobatic devil baby. Alas, I fear it will never get the release it deserves because it randomly uses Tubular Bells two or three times. It adds nothing to the film beyond copyright infringement.

Taking it full circle, I remember how surprised I was when I watched Bava's Bay of Blood (1971) and seeing the similarities to Friday to the 13th.

Part 2 blatantly copies the sex on a bed death from Bava's Video Nasty.

Not to further derail, but two I've always found kind of interesting:

Absurd is always discussed as a rip-off of Halloween, but both Absurd and Halloween II feature virtually the same scene where the killer's eyes are shot out, yet both were released in October 1981.

Also, Universal threw their tantrum over The Last Shark and got it pulled from release in the US or whatever, then ripped off scenes from it in Jaws 3D a few years later.

What do we know about the HD sources for Gator Bait and Rocktober Blood (1984)? Have 35mm elements been found for both?

I just listened to the episode, you guys should look into AI Upscaling software when working on the ‘Rocktober Blood’ release, major studios are even using this software now when remastering 35mm elements, it adds an extra degree & layer of quality to the finished product. I’ve seen even some fan version remasters of different movies/shows that were originally in SD and they look very impressive, to the point where it’s in the realm of a legitimate new master. Highly recommended you look into this for Rocktober Blood, you may find some very impressive results if it’s applied properly.
