I actually think it is the best picture of the year by far. There are a few that I haven't seen such as Moon, but Up is without a doubt Pixar's best film. Note that I did not say it is necessarily my favorite. The Incredibles is certainly very entertaining, but on a critical level Up is one of those movies that you get once in a decade. The first ten minutes will be studied in film schools as long as they have film schools that study film. The emotion and nuances that the characters give will make you forget that it is animated.

UP is by far the best movie of 2009 with Star Trek right behind it. It will definitely be worth the wait knowing Disney and Pixar's home release patterns. Disney has the best Bluray releases, IMO. They pay attention to the detail that I'm sure so many fans appreciate. (I know I do!) Hopefully Monsters, Inc. will be released the same day so one can buy both and save some money. I've been waiting for Monsters, Inc. for a while now too and I've heard that it was released in Mexico recently so the U.S. release can't be far away. I'm super excited for Oscar season as well because I'm predicting a Best Picture nomination for Pete Docter. If it does happen it will make history as the second ever animated film to be nominated for Best Picture, after Beauty and the Beast in 1991.

I'm new to the world of BD (well, to the forums at least, not new to owning the discs themselves), which apparently is inexcusable to some as I keep getting treated as an idiot by certain members (benricci) for not being as well-versed in the area as others. Quote:
![]() For sure. The first act of UP alone will garner it an Oscar nom for Best Picture. Last edited by Jack Wade; 07-22-2009 at 10:44 PM. |

As for not waiting long for the Blu-ray, that will probably be delayed by the same length of time, again Bolt Blu-Ray was released a couple of months later over here than in the US. Disney are the only company that do this on a regular basis and for films like Bolt I can wait, but not for UP with the reviews I keep seeing. Oh well at least I got confirmation my Monsters Inc. Blu-Ray has been shipped, should get it for the weekend!! Last edited by Sgtpepper27; 07-24-2009 at 06:40 AM. |

Pixar's "Up" is still doing well at the boxoffice. It has alraedy topped $281 million domestically and may actually crawl to that coveted $300 million mark. If it still shows legs at the box office well into September, I wonder if that could affect its Blu-ray/DVD release date?
