It was Criterion’s lucky day when they signed up the great Sister Hyde. She has a natural, intrinsic understanding of each project she works and finds an imaginative way in every time. Eric Skillman was very wise to bring her into the fold. (Greg Ruth too, but this is Sister Hyde’s moment.)

I've got the BBS set, so I've got The Last Picture Show. I don't have a 4k TV. I'm disappointed that Texasville is only available as part of the LPS 4k release.

It’s also on the separate BD release.

Every big director box set they have put out does not have a spine#, so this speculation about a Ozu box set for #1200 is nonsense

My gut is telling me 1200 will be a boxset. It may not be Ozu, but it will be a boxset and probably revealed a few days before the 15th. I think Ozu is the most likely, but could be something else.

If it is Ozu, man I have no idea if I'm going to buy it right away as this year has been brutal with boxsets, but will for sure get it at some point.

I would take a Criterion release of Trash Humpers!! But of all his films that’ll probably never get one it’d be that one haha.

This is annoying Don't think it's enough to warrant a replacement from Amazon but still...

That would bother me. You can ask Amazon for a partial refund if you would still keep it.

It's reliably on TCM, certainly around Memorial Day. They even had a fan testimonial a few years ago remembering watching it with his dad who had flown in the B-17s. Of course, not clear how much longer TCM will be around, you can already see the effects of the gutting.

Sobering to think that Jimmy Stewart flew those birds.

Maybe you could try contacting Criterion directly about this and they could probably get it replaced. Important to note that it MAY work (I have never asked them for a new cover but I would assume they would be willing to help out).

Also, if you haven't opened it yet, keep a lookout for any scratches on the disc as well. If you want to be extra cautious, watching the disc could also help to ensure that your disc is perfectly fine.

I think all these great 4K titles that Criterion is all of a sudden releasing with a vengeance are a big middle finger to all of us that complained for years about their stubborn refusal to go 4K for the longest time.

We watched it in Bologna in the breakfast slot on 35mm, none of us went in hoping for anything other than a good romp and we were all blown away.

As was recently reported, a bunch of the funding has been restored (including the outros, which were only shelved for a few weeks), the film festival is coming back, and the chief programmer has been re-hired.

Now, if they’d only bring back TCM Underground.

I have noticed that during their prime time presentations of Summer Under the Stars that they’ve been intros only which seemed unusual.

The new restoration of Jacques Rivette's L'amour fou (1969) played at Cannes this year and is now slated to screen at TIFF as well. While there's no mention of Janus or Criterion being involved, it seems like a big title to announce if they have picked up the NA distribution rights.

Just out of curiosity, why are so many people hankering for Criterion 4Ks of mainstream films that already have strong releases like Goodfellas, 2001, and Pulp Fiction? Does Criterion really need to become the North American equivalent of The Film Vault? It just feels decadent to me. At least Days of Heaven and Mean Streets are new-to-4K titles.
