Uh, if I have to start ordering each title individually, right away, to maybe get a slipcover that is going to be very expensive with shipping. How does Kino package individual releases? Anything short of a box and the slipcover will get destroyed anyway. And I’d rather not order from Amazon if at all possible.

There are actually people who'd rather not have the movie at all than to suffer the outrageous indignity of not having it with a slipcover!

To me they're worthless if they don't contain reversible artwork underneath. Stone Cold was the only one I gave a hoot about because it's a personal favorite and I love both cover arts. I'm so glad I had the foresight to place an order this sale rather to sit it out...that's easily one of my favorite Kino releases to date, and it'd feel naked without it.

It's a reference to Fletch Lives, coming soon to blu-ray from Kino Lorber (lest anyone think it's off-topic for the thread).

Not sure if it is officially gone from their site or not. It does say it is no longer guaranteed and not to ask them about it.

Just hoping they rethink this model of sending any slips to Amazon in the first place. Save em for the Kino site and small shops and we'd all be good going forward

So, I took their recommendation to politely ask for the title to be removed from my order as it hasn't been packed or shipped yet. If it comes anyway, I'll be returning immediately. And, yes, I ordered To Live And Die In L.A., and I'm dying to see what I get there, too. No slip, and that has to go back too.

Yeah, honestly this particularly sale has just left a bad taste for me. Might have to slow down with the purchases in the future.
Annnnnnd I thought about the actual shipping I'd now have to pay for this order, as it would now fall under the $50 mark, and just cancelled the whole thing.

Yeah, just not a great sale this time.

What do they matter if they house identical artwork?

What are our guesses for Lionsgate titles? There's 5 of them, they're all 4K and no horror apparently? Only one i can think of is The Punisher (1989)

I think they're worth having for the spines alone.

If Pretty Baby is flying off the shelf fast enough to sell out of it's O cards before it's even released (!?!), does that give anyone there second thoughts at all about offering an accompanying 4K release?

As I commented previously, it may not be action and sci-fi, but it's period detail and production design, not to mention the cinematography by Nykvist, all look incredible with this new 4K master.

I expect the answer will still be "No". I'm curious though, what other titles have sold out their slipcases prior to their actual release.

And yes, they are worth it to me for their flat spines and unbroken art. Not a deal killer not to have them, but if they are made available, I'd absolutely want to get one.

Most definitely not Frazetta. Other than a voluptuous woman, there's no stylistic similarities to his work.

I do, but mostly because it makes them easier to resell should I not like the movie.

That's one I'm hoping for and probably the biggest Lionsgate title not on HD disc in the US. It's one of the few imports I have, but would gladly replace it with something that looks better.

My mistake. I thought the demon under the title looked like this work.

I believe for their BD titles they only do 2k slipcovers or something like that, as opposed to 10k for the 4K titles. The market is definitely not big enough to move 10k copies of Pretty Baby before release.

I'm with you. I take them off the blu-rays and throw them in a box.... just in case I don't like the movie and decide to stick it on eBay. I'd rather not have the slipcovers because they take up less space on the shelf that way.
