We kept some favorites that we could actually enjoy, but we're pretty much done with all that. We can only support one dysfunctional hobby at the time, and movie collecting fills that role very well. |

The version of the 4K that included the alternative cuts and extras is OOP, unless I’d have bought it. It commands quite high prices on eBay.

My guess is that either the 5.1 audio for the US cut was taken from the international cut and awkwardly conformed, or the audio was originally doubled in the 70mm six-track mix, and then corrected in the 35mm Dolby Stereo for the US release. At any rate, it does seem the audio for the Archival BD was mixed together from a few different sources, but I think we've known that for a while. ![]() |

Like elgee said, the game is excellent. Technically impressive for its time, and it does a great job of replicating the atmosphere of the film. The remaster was a disappointment upon launch, but they've since released two patches which have ironed out the kinks and give you the option to toggle between the OG and "enhanced" visuals. Tbh the main draw is the ability to play it on my PS5 and Switch, as it was a PC exclusive for the longest time.

I keep thinking about grabbing the Briefcase set on eBay.
Which makes no sense, because I already own the 5 disc Blu-ray digibook. But I just want it. …is that wrong? |

Honestly, everyone should check their own copies of the 5-disc set and report back. It'd be really interesting just how many others have rotted, unknown on the shelf like mine, which I only discovered when I pulled it down to watch last week. |

I noticed disc rot on the DVDs of the 5 disc set about 4 or 5 months ago. I bought another set used on eBay to replace those discs. They work, but who knows if those will rot in time. This is so frustrating, I’ve had a big number of DVDs from WB and New Line from the early 2000s rot to the core. Infuriating to say the least.

I started backing up discs after my Criterion "A Night To Remember" rotted.

You're OK though. Seems to only affect pre 2010 releases made at a particular plant, and impacts any label who used that plant. UK Warner doesn't seem to be affected, thank the lord as most of my older Warner discs are UK ones. Unless I'd have a lot of my collection unplayable right now. Quote:
For me, the Enhancement Archive has marked darkening of the playable side and absolutely nothing can be had from the disc. Totally dead. Dangerous Days I can't play or load in a PC either, but the darkening is less pronounced and the PC can still read a disc label of DANGEROUSDAYS or whatever it was even if it won't actually load anything else. Maybe there's an identifier on the disc we could use to check if they came from the problematic plant? Last edited by oddbox83; 08-18-2023 at 03:57 PM. |

![]() I think disc rot is overblown. I think a lot of people blame disc rot when the problem is a dirty disc or a dirty player. I have 3 HD DVD players and my Toshiba XA2 never fails. But my other players have failed to play some discs. |

Basic Instinct Blu A Night To Remember Criterion DVD Flight Plan Blu Unfaithful Blu Live and Let Die DVD Goldfinger DVD You Only Live Twice DVD All of these I tested on players and drives. All wouldn't play. Don't give people a false sense that rot doesn't exist. I have two Looney Tunes laserdiscs that are shot to hell but I keep them because the spots that aren't rotted have shorts that haven't been released. Back up your discs. |
