Yes. It's important to note this is all speculation. I don't doubt that people are experiencing issues with their units, but I'm not sure some of the theories being drawn here have much supporting evidence. I just looked up my 9000 purchase: March 2021. I have not had any of these issues.

Again, I don't doubt those having problems, and I really hope they can get them resolved. But just because you bought a player in 2020 or 2021, does not mean you have a defective unit.

I guess I'm just not understanding what you're waiting for...It's pretty clear that there is a problem with the player. It's not going to work well until you get it addressed. It's not the fault of the discs...there is a hardware issue going on.
I am just a bit paranoid that the problem really is the discs. But yes, I am going to get off my butt once I send back the current batch of discs that don't work (just in case) and then see about what I have to do to get the player serviced.

So everyone else can play those discs fine (and on the exact same model of player that you have) and you just happened to have gotten bad ones for each of those titles?? Statistically, that doesn't make any sense. There is one common denominator for all of this - Your player.

Do you really think all those steps in the new code was written and tested in just one day?

Just to be sure, you should change your HDMI cable. As this can happen to a broken or too long non active HDMI cable. I experienced this when I used an HDMI cable that was a bit too long 30ft. An optical HDMI cable resolved it for me. Just throwing it out there.

Well I haven't updated my TV so it must have been the player update.

I had problems at the weekend as A Quiet Place 4k in Dolby Vision was showing the subtitles in black but that's sorted now with the latest update.

Can any owner confirm if the the latest v1.76 firmware update has addressed the Dolby Vision flickering issues with Kino Lorber's Hard Target & Shout Factory's Halloween 1978 releases?

These were released after Panasonic released their previous v1.69 firmware update back in September 2021, I believe UB820/UB9000 owners were/are still experiencing Dolby Vision flickering with some of the more recent Dolby Vision releases.

You know you can turn down luminance for subtitles in the menu, right?

The forced DV thing is a “feature” of the Pannies apparently. It’s not gonna be fixed.

I recently purchased a UB820 with the hardware mod to allow region free playback.

Does anyone know if this new update to 1.76 interfere with the mod?

Yes it will interfere with it. Contact the supplier of the hardware mod for an update. If it is a rattlebyte mod then an update should be available in a few days.

Thanks, I think it is Rattlebyte.

For those using the Rattlebyte mod - version 1.76 is now available to download from the internet directly to your player by wifi/ethernet. Its not available for USB download yet. Quick service as usual from rattlebyte.

I checked my cable. It is a 6 ft Monoprice 18 gbps cable. I tried an 8K cable in the past but it wasn't compatible.

My first thought was whether the KL Hard Target DV flicker might have been eliminated with the firmware update, but it looks like it’s still present

I installed firmware 1.76 on my UB9000 today. I have no idea if it will end up helping with future discs because I've never had an issue with any of the discs I've played in it.

What firmware 1.76 did NOT do is add the ability to turn off the automatic shutoff after 20 minutes on pause. Screw you, Panasonic!

Thank goodness I'm moving away from physical media. If I'm lucky, streaming will help put Panasonic out of business.

Quick question, doesn’t anybody’s ub820 get hung up when trying to turn on?

I’ve had 2 of them do the exact same thing. Seems to happen every 3rd or 4th power on. It turns on…then gets stuck on “Welcome!” front display

Idk what it could be.

I don’t know if I’m not giving it time to power down before powering it back up. I don’t really want to use the “Quick Start” feature. I’m afraid it’ll burn up the player faster. But it seems to be the only way to make this DOESN’T happen.
