From reading numerous posts, I've got the impression that the Rythmik is a great sub for listening to music since its tight and accurate. But since my use will be 90% movies and 10% music, I think I'll be better off with the SVS. I'll be ordering it tomorrow. Also, I just ordered the Pioneer KRP-500M from eBay. Not bad for $1700 final price including stand . Pics will be posted as soon as I get it... stay tuned!
You will not be disappointed.......the cylinder subs are beautiful and perform incredibly, congrats!

Thanks. I had one question though...I was looking at the 'SPL vs Freq' chart between the PC-12 Plus and the PC-12 NSD, and I noticed that the NSD plays at a louder volume (~92 db). I'm a little confused because I thought the plus was the higher end model, but it plays quieter ?? How do you like your NSD??

I can't explain the 92 db's playing level, which is interesting (insert Big Daddy comment here )....... I can speak for my PC12-NSD, and it performs flawlessly. I had my SC-05 at -10db's for Watchmen, and it felt like I was just taking it out for a jog. I could have pumped it at lower db's and I think I still would have plenty of headroom with that thing. Performance is ridiculous! The movie was so-so, but so far I have not found a blu that can truly push the SVS to anything close to it bottoming out. It seems to bebottomless to me. I have never noticed any distortion or port noise, not even remotely. I just don't think you could go wrong with an SVS sub.......it just depends on your wallet!

The primary reason for me upgrading to a new sub is because of bottoming-out issues with my current sub. So its nice to know there is no issues regarding that with your NSD. I'd still like to get some input from other members regarding the SPL vs Freq chart. I just called SVS to ask them about the difference, but they are closed today. Maybe I'll ask them tomorrow before placing the order. If I can save $400 and get louder bass, then why not!!

I would e-mail them, they usually will get back to you within 4 hrs or so....plus it is nice to start some kind of correspondence if you have further questions once you get your SVS sub!

My opinion is none of the above, for $1000 your can get an awesome sub and i would pass on all in the list, all very good but i think you can do a whole lot better for that kind of money.

Just got a response from SVS (great) customer service.

"I can see why you'd be confused. However, the charts on the site do not represent max SPL or the output capabilities of the subs. They merely show ground-plane frequency response. As far as output comparisons, consider the Plus line the NSD line on steroids. The combination of a larger enclosure volume, more capable woofer (longer stroke and higher power handling), much greater port area, and higher amp power results in a subwoofer which has on average about 60-70% more maximum output capability than the NSD version. So, when the NSD is hitting its limits and starting to compress the signal, the Plus is still coasting with plenty of headroom left in the tank. This translates into a more effortless bass with more slam/impact on those really demanding LFE scenes in today’s blockbuster Blu-ray DVDs. The Plus line would not be overkill in the least in ~2500ft^3 if you envision listening at loud levels and want some additional slam/impact/pressure from the subwoofer."

I'm just gonna order the PC-12 Plus.

Edit: Just placed the order! Yay I'm so excited!!

Great! Their customer service is top notch for sure. I'm glad they still monitor the e-mails, even on a Sunday. Sounds like the Plus is the big brother of the NSD, with the Ultra 13 as the daddy. Any way you look at it, that is one family I'm glad I'm a part of! Congrats on the sub purchase, you should have it in about a week, if not less!
