10/10 for me and I got all of the emotions from it.

I never watched rebels - just a 15 min catch-up YouTube vid. I was a tad cold on the series start, it grew on me a bit and has now absolutely caught fire.

Edit - I can only imagine even how much better this series is for the people who know rebels through and through.

The episode is ok, decent, maybe a 7/10, but not aimed just at you but a few in the last couple of pages. Maybe I was expecting too much, but it has a few good bit a few flaws.

The good:
Special effects like the rest of the series are absolutely on point. Seeing The Ghost with Millennium Falcon's movie level of detail was fantastic.

Good to see more of Jacen. For a kid actor, he's not annoying and that's all we can expect

So good to see Ashoka in a better getup than the tatty homeless rags she's been wearing. She looks so much better and more appealing now.

Nice callbacks to The Clone Wars in the flashbacks.

The Flaws:
Storywise it was basically pretty filler, nothing really got advanced until the last 10 minutes

Jacen with his force abilities, I'm puzzled why Ashoka doesn't train him instead of Sabine, What happened to getting them young?

Young Ahsoka, they royally screwed that up! The first flashback was the wrong outfit for the time period and the actress they chose was far too 'baby-faced' and the second flashback while they got the outfit right, she was far too young to play Ashoka in that time period, I personally would have chose Laura Harrier or someone like that.

No explanation of how she got in or out of the "World between worlds" or why she saw Anakin and who he was.

It was fine for what it was, personally, I thought episode 4 was actually better. It feels like they're stalling for time before they give us Thrawn and it's getting irritating now. I didn't get emotional because I don't have this connection to Anakin at all. At the time I thought the character was whiny and annoying in the prequel trilogy. Granted Hayden Christensen seems to have improved imminently as an actor since then and is far less wooden here than he was in the PT.

I thought the CGI of Anakin improved dramatically from last week to this week or maybe that was just me. But, the whole world between worlds segment turned out to be the worst part of the episode. Because it didn't advance the story at all. It was just there to serve fans that would drool over it and not think about the logistics of the it. You would never see Darth Vader if that was truly happening as he was dead and Anakin was redeemed. He wouldn't continue her training by trying to kill her. Anyways that segment brought the episode down, it didn't raise it up. I enjoyed the rest of it (outside of blind flying in a Purggil's mouth to destinations unknown), I don't mind the standing around taking it all in stuff.

He wrote a directed 1 single episode of Boba Fett, and co wrote 2 episodes of Mando s3. Faverau is in charge of those shows. He is the showrunner. Bad Batch is great full stop.

Yes, but there's a lot of "Filoni-verse" in Mando Seasons 2 and 3, and the Book of Boba Fett. If you were talking about Bryce Howard, it would be hard to pin issues on her for simply directing for Favreau, but Filoni had a lot of creative involvement in the Star Wars Disney+ shows.

And again, not blaming him. Both Boba and Kenobi began life as planned theatrical films, but after Solo, they backed off, and the decision was made to take those movies and expand them out into their respective series. The padding showed in Obi-Wan - boy, did it ever - while the return of Mando, Ahsoka, and the appearance of Clone Wars characters in Boba were actually bright spots in that series.

I have liked the show, but I also feel this way as well. We are 5/8 through the story and we haven't even seen a glimpse of Thrawn yet. Presumably we will next week (I'm guessing at the very end) so that gives them like 2 episodes to introduce him and then wrap the series. I have a feeling this is going to end up feeling very much like one long prologue to the Mando era movie instead of a satisfying story in and of itself.

I also agree with some of the criticism I've read out there that the show itself is just too in awe of Star Wars. Reverence and giving things moments to breathe are one thing, but especially with the Space Whales, it almost approached Star Trek:TMP levels of "okay, we get it, they are all majestic and stuff". I think part of that is me - I watched and enjoyed Rebels, but I wasn't in love with the ending of the series, or all the Space Whale stuff to begin with, so this being a huge rehash of it hasn't really given me any of the "feels" that some seem to have.

It's not a bad show, I'm enjoying something new - but it also hasn't struck me much, and given how much they talked up Episode 5 being so amazing, my expectations are now in check for the remainder of the series.

I was one of the lucky few who got to see the episode on the big screen, and I'm sure that played a part in my enjoyment, having the reaction of the crowd. I absolutely loved it. Definitely a lot of fan service, and perhaps a tiiiiiny bit longer than it needed to be in places, but I liked that it was able to breath a little bit. Felt like the best of Dave Filoni, but in live action this time.

I would have really liked to have gotten even to the intro to Thrawn, but I feel like he would've overshadowed everything else in the episode had he appeared, so I'm glad they let it stand alone. I'm sure we'll get to him next week. I'm really excited to see where it goes from here- not just Ahsoka (the show and character), but also Star Wars as a whole.

I can certainly see the episode being divisive for many, whether they watched Clone Wars/Rebels (but especially Rebels, given the World Between Worlds) or not. I feel like a lot of people didn't really GET what the World Between Worlds was/is, and were hyping up the "multiverse" angle, which is something it isn't.

Also, good for Ariana Greenblatt. She's now played the child version of 2 famous alien women, and been in 2 of the highest grossing movies of all time. I always get her confused with Dafne Keen, but she's been having a great career here recently.

I think this is the first time we ever see Ahsoka without her head dress (at least in live action), and it was a little jarring for me. Probably just because it showed a little more of the rougher side of the prosthetic, but it was weird.

Been interesting reading that a lot of people didn't feel it advanced the plot at all. While it was certainly a more character focused episode, I wouldn't say it didn't advance the plot. It just focused more on the emotional plot of the show- the balance of master and apprentice, what you pass on, etc. I'm really looking forward to hearing Dave talk about this one and what his intentions for it were. Much like his speech about Duel of the Fates in episode 1, I think it may change at least a few minds.

Obi-Wan had more than enough exposure in 6 films, he didn't need a personal series as well.

Ahsoka had exposure in Clone Wars and Rebels so one could argue she's had a lot of exposure as well but I've enjoyed it immensely nonetheless.

While I enjoyed the 'memberberries endorphin hit, I cant help this growing feeling of dissatisfaction overall. We're over half way through the show, and it's spending SO much time spinning it's wheels. Sure Andor was a slow burn, but it constantly moved the narrative forward. Here, you could easily dump half the episode and not have the story suffer for it.

It's like a four part Tom Baker Doctor Who story that they pad up to six episodes by having the Doctor run up and down corridors for two episodes.

I'll hold out final judgment for the last three episodes, but right now it's looking like just another dud for disney.

As someone who adores Clone Wars, this filled me with absolute glee. I would've loved to watch this in Theaters if it was near me.

Hardly a dud, but it's clearly the beginning of a series, and it's not going to "wrap up" in three more episodes. I think we get Ezra back, and Thrawn returns, ending on a kind of Rebels-esque season finale with perhaps a cliffhanger. There's your next three episodes.

There's some speculation that the series (and the film it sets up) will lead to a separate branch of Star Wars happening in this "other galaxy" and the events of the film will lead to those branches splitting, with the mainline one going into the sequel trilogy and whatnot, while the new branch goes off on it's own direction, unburdened by the weight of the sequel trilogy and possibly reconnecting down the line, with whatever they intend to do with Rey.

Wow! Episode 5 was absolutely fantastic! Dave Filoni is the man!

It's just so great to see Hayden playing Anakin again after all these years and I thought the de-aging used here was pretty convincing for the most part.

The World Between Worlds opens up a lot of other possibilities for seeing all kinds of characters again, which could be a lot of fun if used in future series or films. There is a lot of potential there for interesting character interactions across generations.

Once again, the visuals and lightsaber combat were on point. And it ends on an exciting note.

The visual storytelling with the change in Ahsoka's outfit to parallel her character journey was also a nice touch.

Well done!

The thing that keeps nagging at me about the series is my feeling those who haven't seen the Filoniverse might not engage with the show. Space Whales? Ezra who? etc. For fans of Rebels and the Clone Wars, it's an early Christmas present, but for everybody else? I dunno if the show really works standing on its own.

Thoughts?

Not sure how that is any different than A New Hope, and the way it introduced characters, locations, and other oddities. Then sprinkled in other things. Clone Wars, Former Master, etc.

There's a reason why the Show tends to feel like it's deliberately trying to hand information to those who disregard Rebels and Clone Wars. It's aware people will skip those for whatever reason they have(whether it be stupidly arbitrary "It's just a dumb cartoon for kids" or reasonable as time), so they tend to interject a statement with a piece of info that if it wasn't included would've been fine to anyone but them. Same thing goes for Mando with Anything. Lore of the Darksaber? Clone Wars/Rebels fans already know this, regular people don't, so it gets repeated rather briefly.

Like,
[Show spoiler]Huyang had no real reason to name drop Kanan to anyone when talking about Jacen, except for the portion of the audience who would have no clue who he is.
