Another that I feel confident was cracked: Yotsuya Ghost Story (1959).

Credit to rapta, and gudemameshiba for helping to uncover that.

Kind of surprised it took a year for anyone to notice.
Well we knew they were working with Daiei/Kadokawa for a few weeks now since they announced Elegant Beast. A few labels are working with them now, so hopefully one of them gets GI Samurai.

I'm wondering if this was the Japanese Trilogy that was postponed? I know the films aren't a trilogy, but they all share the same ghost theme. Actually, I don't even know if it was postponed, or outright cancelled. I hope it's just the former .

I know Fran had to cancel a few releases due to master issues. I found all three of them online, and two had HD masters, but I'm not sure if they are genuine HD masters or upscales. Either way, would love for these to come out.

Bride from Hades was one of the films shown at that SFX film festival a few years ago with the 4K remasters of the Daimajin and Yokai films. If it was good enough to screen, should be good enough for disc.
I don't know about Yotsuya, that one was Shintoho.

Curse of the Dog God and Inferno are now about 90% sold out. This is good, but lets see if we can get a sell out and push our love for Japanese cinema.

I'm hoping a few more labels notice the love these are getting and give us some Japanese cinema.

Maybe this can get Criterion to put the original Jigoku on Blu-ray. I'm mostly convinced the only reason they finally did a Jackie Chan set was because the SF sets got people asking. Strike while demand is at its highest.

The last few Japanese releases have sold very fast for MM. That seems like good incentive to give us even more.

What are Animeigo up to? I guess When The Last Sword... didn't sell well, because it's been a few years since that was out. They were killing it at one time with Samurai Cinema on DVD. I wish someone would release more of those. Start with Hanzo, Sleepy Eyes, and Shinobi No Mono, and go from there.

Yeah, I've been hoping a release for Jigoku for ages. Seems like a perfect fit for October, but who knows what's going on over at Criterion.

Yeah, I think the Japanese releases have all sold out pretty quickly compared to a few other releases since they started with Gemini. There is an interest in Japanese cinema right now, so hope other labels get the message.

The problem is that they BARELY advertised it if at all. A lot of the game is now social media and I don't think I even saw them anywhere pushing the film. Which is a shame because it's a really good film and had a really good encode from MediaOCD. One of the better samurai films from the last 30 years.

They are back at anime, they have a kickstarter going up for Macross 2 soon.

Glad to see I didn't miss PASSION. I saw an article that it was getting a release, went to the Film Movement site, noticed I couldn't pre-order the Blu-ray.

I feel like I had this problem (at one point) with WHEEL OF FORTUNE AND FANTASY but can't remember now.

The actor who plays Yasunori Kato in Doomed Megalopolis is one of the main inspirations for M. Bison / Dictator in Capcom's "Street Fighter 2" fighting game series.

Just thinking out loud, but I really wish someone would release an English friendly version of Shura (1971). There have been a couple of Japanese Blus, both without subs. It's easily one of my all time favourite Japanese films of any era.

The Last Megalopolis is shipping from the replicator and should be listed on the MB store next week.

Nice. Didn't think it was going to make the date or even close to it, but at least it's really happening.

Whoa, did not hear anything about this film receiving a Blu-ray release until just now!
(Glad I was able to place an order before it possibly sells out!)
Very exciting to add more 1970's Japanese cinema to my collection especially when the announcement for this was a total surprise.
And a Nikkatsu film to boot! Finally some more "studio diversity" with these recent stateside releases. (Sorry Toei loyalists! )
