I tried going from the left input on the sub to the receiver but got very little sound so i plugged the right in and then used the y adapter then it sounded fine. So i did the same thing on the other sub, so now i have two y adapters coming from the subs which then goes into another y adapter to the receiver.

I saw that you guys said coming from the left input would be fine but the sound output was just terrible. Now using the setup i described above is this going to cut down on the voltage sent to each amp, therefore reducing the power of the sub?

So you've been bidding on them for a few weeks maybe you know. Do they put another one up for regular auction after the one ends because I keep looking for another black one to pop up but nothing has yet and black is the only color I can get all of my stuff is black.

Well after weeks of lurking this thread you guys made me I just captured a RW-Sub 12 for $110 e-bay best offer. I would have preferred a HD-SUB12 but have a pair of basset hounds that run in to things when playing.

I still cannot quite grasp you can get a decent sub for this kind of money.

Yeah I wanted a little bit lower extension with my second sub. I had looked all over and almost pulled the trigger on a fewer more expensive subs but just couldn't do it (school is fixing to start), so I thought I'd give it a try. I really love my PA-120 just wanted something with a littler lower extension. Now I have to play with location. My living room is a challenge for sure for home theater.

It shows my sub has already shipped . I thought if I was going to do it I better do it soon. There were no auctions on the 12's and showed only 3 left so I thought they may run out.

You've got such a huge space (nice HT, by the way) that I can't imagine just one of EITHER of these subs being "enough".

Keep us updated, and feel free to put your thoughts in the Premier Acoustics thread too. Having more budget options and direct comparisons is a very good thing.

*edit* Oh, and I really like those two cherry subs posted earlier in the thread. I'll have to eat my words about the PA-120 being better looking!

From what I gather they must add only a certain amount per week cuz last week on Monday I bid then on Friday I lost the auction and there were like 2 HD subs total. Then on Monday there was a good selection of about 40 again. So I'm guessing they just add a few per week

You are fine. Some subwoofers require that you connect both the right and left inputs. I use Y adapters on my subwoofers.

The effect of Y adapters is explained in A Guide to Bass Management. The setup of two subwoofers is also explained in that thread.

The important thing is that the level of the combined subwoofers should match the level of the other speakers. The calibration program in your receiver will do that. Alternatively, you can buy a $50 digital SPL meter from Radio Shack and do it manually.

The placement of the two subs is very important. The best place for two subwoofers is in the middle of the right and left walls. You need to experiment.

Also, make sure that the bass you are hearing from each subwoofer is approximately the same at your listening position. This may require the use of an SPL meter as ears are not very reliable.

Congratulations. I will add your name to the list of owners in Post #1. What other speakers do you have?

I encourage all of you to read A Guide to Bass Management. It will help you with the setup of your subwoofer. There is a section at the end of Post #1 for the setup of two subwoofers. For all your cable needs, go to Post #2.

If you have two subwoofers or are considering to buy a second subwoofer, read A Guide to Subwoofers (Part II): Standing Waves & Room Mode. It explains the theory behind multiple subwoofers and there are guidelines at the end of Post #1 and the beginning of Post #2 for the best placement of multiple subwoofers.

If you want to increase the performance of your subwoofer, add some polyfill to it. You can buy polyfill from Wal-Mart or Michaels below $5. Make sure you buy the fire retardant kind and do not over-fill the subwoofer enclosure. For the benefits of polyfill, go to the middle of Post #2 in the DIY SUbwoofer/Speaker Building, Repairing, & Upgrading thread.

Many members have experienced improvement in their subwoofers' performance by putting them on risers or increasing the length of the subwoofer's legs. The DIY Subwoofer Risers explains how to build one. The theory behind risers is explained in Posts #2 and #3 of the thread.

small update...

after about 2 months of using the SUB12 almost every night its doing a great job. I've been doing a lot of 2.1 these last few weeks and I was playing Al DiMeola's Elegant Gypsy and was stunned at how good this sounded. The deep, low bass was kicking in very nicely. During Flight Over Rio I actually rolled back the vol on the sub to about 50% (was set at about 65%). Midnight Tango sounded great and Elegant Gypsy suite just killed!! A big Thank you for letting us in on this one BD!!

I am VERY happy with this unit. I can't wait to match it up to the new Pioneer Elite SC-07 tomorrow night. I've had it since last thursday but havent had the chance/time to set her up yet... more info to come!

Dude, at $186 you still scored a good deal. I paid mine full price $198 plus about $100 of shipping and duty fee's and it was worth every penny. Worst case, put it in a dark corner

Man .... I knew this would happen. Not only different sizes but different colors. If I kept it the only thing I could do is make comparisons for the forum lol , as I would have heard 5 subs in my house in the exact same setup

Polk psw10
servo15
klipsch12 ( not sure of the model# but it was $479 at best buy )
aa hdsub-12
aa hdsub-15

I wish I could take a pic of my setup to show everyone my goofy room situation. My room is square but everything is at an angle so it mKes it tough.

I'm on an iPhone. I'm gonna try to take a few pics and upload them to photobucket to see what happens

Well on a plus side there was a photo bucket app for Iphone so I'll try to get pics up to see if anyone can figure out a good placement for my sub. Or possibly 2

And I picked up a few new movies at best buy on sale

ended up getting casino, u571 , and the wrestler. Watching u571 now for the first time on my setup

I just ordered the adapter from monoprice too. The shipping price from cablesimple was ridiculous. For under a buck I'll see how it goes. If I'm not satisfied, I'll bite the bullet and pay the shipping.
