I rewatched the ProRes trailer and I found a lot of it looked pretty much like what I saw in the Titanic 4K.. so if you don't like Titanic 4K unless something different happens, you probably won't like either of the Cameron 4Ks.

But again, this is speculation, so better wait til we have the disc in March.

While maybe it's a bit denoised/sharpened, I am glad that filmmakers who are going to do this anyway now have tools to do so without plasticization. See for example the Green Mile, which while no longer filmic, still looks great in its own way.

If this release manages to raise the profile of the film and get it reappraised as Cameron's best film, then all good. It won't be a perfect disc, but it's The Abyss in 4K. On disc!

I am hoping that the text commentary is included from the DVD. That was JAM PACKED with excellent information. If not, I'll maybe pop in that old disc after I watch it again in 4k.

I think most people would watch it once with the text. I agree it had some great info about the film.. maybe they will do a streaming version of it as extra
avatar 1 and 2 have a family version as an extra with streaming.
