Older TV shows had specific breaks for ads. Seems like ad based services have automated where and when the ads go.

Some more news:

[Show spoiler]All of the procedures went well. I am at home recovering. I have quite a few restrictions on what I can do, but these will hopefully be lifted Saturday.

The right heart catheterization surgery showed that I do not have pulmonary hypertension, so I have overcome that potential obstacle to getting a heart transplant.

The cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET), or treadmill stress test, shows that I am not quite sick enough... yet... to be put on the transplant list. One key measurement from this test required that I score a 14, or lower, to be placed on the list and I scored a 22. For perspective, my transplant cardiologist said that his personal score on the same parameter was about 45.

I only lasted 9 minutes and 38 seconds on the treadmill. My top speed was 2.4 mph on a 14% grade before the test was stopped; I was only able to maintain that speed for mere seconds. I guess that ends any hope of my becoming a track star.

The plan is to continue my current treatment with the medications that I have been taking, which again only slows progression of my disease. My transplant cardiologist plans to retest me in a few months, or sooner, depending on how quickly I deteriorate. He says that my chances of having a major heart attack in the meantime are much less likely than my just continuing to gradually decline.

I have very mixed feelings about all of this. On the one hand it is great that I do not have pulmonary hypertension, but simply waiting until I become sick enough to be placed on the transplant list is not a very satisfying outcome. I was hoping for a resolution and instead I am being told to stay the course and wait until I worsen enough to make the list. The only chance for me to get better is a dual heart and liver transplant and these results leave me in a state of anxious limbo. Waiting until I invariably become sicker doesn't seem like much of a plan, but that's it.

I also had a MRI done of my lumbar spine and it showed lots of problems from the L2-L3 (lumbar vertebrae) through and including the L5-S1 (lumbar/sacral spine). These issues could be caused by my Hereditary Transthyretin Amyloidosis Cardiomyopathy or by aging, but regardless of the cause my disease makes it worse either way.

I have four more appointments this month and if more are not added I will have had 76 medical appointments this year! I had to travel over 100 miles each way for two-thirds of these visits. Perhaps that statistic alone can give you an idea of how completely exhausting this has been and why I had so hoped to obtain a definitive resolution with these latest procedures.

Please forgive me for feeling a little sorry for myself. I will regain my determination soon and face the next challenge head-on like the stubborn jackarse that I am. Thanks for reading and for all of your support. It helps to lift my spirits; it really does.

You must be absolutely shattered at the end of that, I hope you are able to get good rest and hopefully, in due course, squeeze a few films in.

Good news on one hand, but frustrating as well it seems, which is of course, a totally understandable response.

Thanks for keeping us informed and all the very best wishes.

I have only bought one movie since October and that is:

...which I saw at the theater.

As I recover I have been watching The Andy Griffith Show. I watched season 1 on blu-ray previously. I am currently watching the subsequent seasons on DVD and they look much better than I expected. I am not sure that upgrading to the complete series on blu-ray is worth the cost to be honest.

CatBallou.jpg

Jane Fonda was the Margo Robbie of the '60's, I went to go see this Movie when it came out in the Theater. Cat Ballou was another great Movie, with Lee Marvin getting an Oscar for his portrayal of two characters. Both of these are available in HDX in Vudu. To get them on Disc, $43 for the 4K and $92 for the BD!

The French blu-ray is region free and only costs $16.51:

The HDX version on Vudu is currently $13.99, so no big savings by settling for the digital copy.

I don't see a listing for a 4K disc at all.

It’s one of many 4K titles I have yet to watch. Should be a treat.

Just waiting for my 4K pre orders of Del Toro’s Pinocchio and 13 Hours: The Ghosts Of Benghazi, as I said in an earlier post, that’s me done for this year.
Very happy with my haul.

Have Cat Ballou on DVD and probably will not dip again on this one. Did dip again for Old Gringo.

Thank you for sharing the latest update, which at least leaves a transplant as an option in the future. The manner in which you have battled this over the past year is extremely commendable and inspiring. Please don’t feel like you need to ask for forgiveness at any moment in time, while at the same time, please do not hesitate to ask for anything which may help put a smile on your face.

I am betting WB wanted more money to license this stuff out and Sony said no, so now all the rights are getting pulled. Most of the stuff that is leaving is stuff I never would have bought anyway, but it shows what can happen, no refunds, no redeeming on another service, basically no effs given.

As for reading the TOS, I don't have time to sit there and read that entire thing. But these companies will never get another dime from me on digital content. Thankfully the vast majority of stuff I have in Apple and Vudu are just codes that came with my Blu-rays.

If you gave them money under the belief that you owned something, and they took it away; how is that not theft?

Watched the Mean Streets CC 4K disc and it was great. Watched Exorcist Believer on Peacock and I was not a fan.

Killers of the Flower Moon is up for digital 4K purchase via retailers for $24.99. I might get it as an early Christmas present to myself. It will probably debut on ATV+ for free streaming in late January. $24.99 now for such a great movie is still a bargain.

No forgiveness necessary. Most people, myself included, would have been mired in self pity through this whole process. Your optimism and determination are a testament to your strength and an inspiration for me and I'm sure others. I continue to wish you the best.

Real simple answer, read the TOS/EULA. And the best part, they can change the TOS/EULA in part or in whole and do so without prior notice.

Been this way since the first day UV came online. Control - content owner/provider = 100%, purchaser = 0%.

For alchav21 and a few others, you need to read this article (here).

Quote:
  • The physical media release of Christopher Nolan's film Oppenheimer sold out on 4K Blu-ray in just one week, indicating a strong demand for high-quality home video.
  • Christopher Nolan has been a proponent of physical media and believes that streaming services can threaten the availability of films, making physical copies more valuable.
  • Owning physical copies of movies allows audiences to experience the artist's exact vision, free from censorship or the risk of films being taken down from streaming platforms.

To be fair, I have heard they produced a fifth of the discs a similar title would have had 5 years ago. But it's always better that demand is exceeded.

Two things, 1 if there is proof then provide a link. 2 Five years ago UHD Blu-ray was still quite young and I highly doubt any studio would have produced large quantities of UHD Blu-ray for any title.

HD formats accounted for 74% of first-week Oppenheimer sales, with 38% from the regular Blu-ray edition and 36% from the 4K Ultra HD combo pack, which was widely reported to have sold out at most retailers. Needless to say, Oppenheimer also easily topped the dedicated 4K sales chart.
