Went to see this in the cinema tonight. About halfway through the overture, the film shut off and the lights went up. Ten minutes go by, lights go back down, overture restarts, 30 seconds later film stops, lights go up. Another five minutes, lights down, overture, 30 seconds, film stops, lights up. Another ten minutes go by, then an employee pokes his head in to say "so we've been informed that the blank screen at the start is actually intentional, but that was after we started rebooting the projector so it'll be a couple of minutes." A couple of minutes later, lights down, film starts up at the end of the opening credits.
Ridiculous. |

Adding an extra 40 minutes to a four-hour movie is definitely not ideal.

Sure, the 4K era yields superior a/v quality, but DVD's heyday at the turn of the millennium sure cranked out some cool packaging.

How good (faithful) is the restoration work on this 4K version?

I'm not convinced there will be a standard release. Look at the other films that were released in the Columbia or Sony Classics boxsets. Some of them have never been released again (e.g. Sense & Sensibility, Oliver!). I think they will keep it limited edition only, occasionally to be reissued.

I don't know if it will be confirmed until someone receives the reissue but looks like everyone is assuming it will be the same content. Content was the same between the Columbia vol 1 release and the later steelbook, doesn't make sense they would change now.
