I hate the remote which comes with the 820. Is there a better option? Did everyone just buy the 9000's remote?

The real Panny 9000 remote is like $60+ shipping from Europe. Or search N2QAYA000172 on ebay for a clone of that remote.

sfmarine recently bought a quality cloned remote off eBay for around $12. Even if it is a knockoff remote it will feel more premium than the factory 820 remote which obviously isn't the most popular of remotes I'd say.

Even official remotes seem knock off quality now, I bet these are all made with the same parts and hollow plastic. The most premium remotes I own are from the Toshiba XA1/XA2 but they aren't very ergonomical. Playstation 3 remote is great too, sad it has no real use anymore for me. The old ones have way more heft in particular, my Yamaha CD changer deck has a heavy remote.

The knock off remotes are not from the same parts as they dont support code switching which is needed if you have multiple panasonic players in the same room. But otherwise do the job and seem to be decent quality.

While I like One For All remotes a lot (have one to replace my Oppo BDP-103 remote on the way), there's no reason not to grab a legit UB900 remote for $20-30 off eBay or somesuch place.

Hi everyone new to the forum so please be gentle. I'm having a issue with my UB820 and soundbar which I hope someone can help me with?

Here's my set up details. I have an LG C2 TV, A Samsung Q930B Sound bar and since last week, the Panasonic UB820.

Have set up as follows. Sound bar connected to television via eARC hdmi. UB820 Blu-ray player connected from audio/visual hdmi port to sound bar hdmi port using ultra high speed cable.

Ok, here's my issue, whenever I turn on my television, I can't get sound through the soundbar. It defaults to television speaker. I end up having to disconnect the soundbar from the television eARC and then reconnect it, then it works fine.

This was never an issue with my previous 4k blu-ray player. Everything would just come on and work straight away. My previous 4k blu ray player was fairly old so I appreciate technology has moved on a bit. So is there anything i'm missing here or not doing correctly?

Hope someone can help. All connections are secure, just getting a bit frustrated having to unplug/plug in the soundbar each and every time I want to use it.

Thanks

Why don't you connect the player directly to the tv?

Have tried that but same result. Just not sure where the issue lies but has only started since I bought the panny 820.

What are your HDMI settings for the player? I think it should be Auto for the A/V port and Audio only for the Audio port, that's what I use for the dual connection method I run but it should be the same for the direct connection method your using.

Also might want to make sure your soundbar passes full bandwidth video with the direct conn method, my AVR doesn't do Dolby Vision so I use the dual conn method.

*edit- I turned off the Viera link HDMI control on the player as well cause it was changing inputs on my AVR for some reason, might try that too

people keep saying this, but companies keep putting out more 4K discs. There need to be players to play those discs, they're not going to stop making the players.

Default 820 screen goes black on some DolbyVision discs

Thanks! I assume this is in response to:

Anyone else have issues where certain DolbyVision discs on the 820 play only audio unless you turn off DolbyVision on the player? After that of course they just play in Hdr10. Not the end of the world, but annoying for a player I bought so I wouldn’t have to manual tirn on DolbyVision as I do on my Sony x800m2.

Discs affected so far are Godzilla vs Kong and Godzilla King of the Monsters (both from Warners). Both play in DolbyVision on my Sony, same hdmi cable.

Hi guys, bought the UB820 this week. Any tips when setting the player? I will pair it with a 65 G3 and a S95QR soundbar.

Thanks!

I didn't even realize that official model was so cheap, so it just doesn't have the HDR button and the -10/+60 but works all the same on the UHD players?

Any reason the UB820 would have much higher dynamic range audio than my Sony X800? I randomly watched the same content on both this week and the Panasonic audio was MUCH higher dynamic range than the Sony, despite both being on the default audio settings with dynamic range compression type settings off.
