Did you even see the movie? It's a movie about superheroes and supervillains who happen to be women. What's wrong with that? You could have told the same exact story with an all male cast. It certainly wasn't all "Yay Girl Power!" or male bashing. Captain Marvel doesn't walk up to Nick Fury and say "Obviously since you're a male, you can't handle this." If it had been a CW DC show, you'd have a point. But none of that goes on in this at all. I liked this movie. I thought it was the most fun Marvel movie of the year, even more so than Guardians. It's the one I'm most likely to get a 3D Blu Ray of. And by the way, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny didn't make that brand into a girl's brand either. PWB's character doesn't overshadow Indy, And Indy's the one with the majority of the answers. It, too, was a good movie. However, a crowd that wanted to be outraged to be outraged used a word they don't understand (woke) and labelled it as such. Even Star Wars didn't go from being a boy's brand to a girl's brand. Yes, Rey is something of a Mary Sue, but Star Wars has a long history of strong female characters. Or are you forgetting Padme and Princess Leia? Besides, why is there even a thing like labelling movies as being strictly for boys or girls? Why can't they be for everyone? |
