Isn't that the same point I'm making? Audiences cared enough to go to the theater in droves for the spectacle that was Barbenheimer but skipped Indiana Jones, Mission Impossible, MCU, Transformers, DC, Pixar, and Fast & Furious.

So actually bothering to understand the entertainment and political landscape in order to judge how well a movie might do makes you an incel? Just because you like something and others don't based on legitimate knowledge and concerns doesn't give you the right to resort to childish name calling.

I remember being called a "neck beard" on my first day here. Great intro to the forum. I only stayed because @the13thman is not only a fair moderator but also seems like a decent person. A rare combination for an Internet moderator.

yeah I never said that. That you are taking offense seems weird though, as if I was talking about you in particular. I didn't say everyone was that.

Yeah it does look like I'm offended but I don't really care. No scratch that. I find this type of behaviour annoying but it's the Internet sooo? As for not saying what you clearly did say? As Rick James would say, "Cocaine is a hellava drug". I'm out

if you're quoting someone out of context, think twice and quote the whole thing. I spent time talking about other things that were at issue, INCLUDING the certain *******s that were out to get women period. Didn't quote anyone or direct it at anyone here. No quotes in my post. If you took offense, I guess that is telling about you?

It’s all speculation at this point but does this movie being the mother of all flops make the 3D Blu-ray more or less likely to happen?

Eternals was the mother of all flops before this and so was Quantumania ect.. That didn’t affect home releases.

It is telling about me. A long time ago now, myself (and others) pointed out the issues that would eventually lead to where Disney is now. It was obvious, but some people took offense and the name calling started. So after the fact, I am pointing out similar issues and the name calling started again. I find this type of thing annoying because the name calling is usually the beginning of shutting down reasoned argument. If that is not the case here then OK.

Disney "had" three of the biggest franchises of all time. Each one took decades to become iconic. Disney bought them and in less than a decade, each one has become financially ruined. As Film Threat's Chris Gore pointed out, "Hollywood turning boy brands into girl brands will be the most costly and disastrous decision they ever made in their history." Is he out to get women?

Marvels is the first Marvel movie that didn't cross over the 100m mark in the US

"Boy brands"? "Girl brands"? What in the world are you talking about? What is this? The 1930s? A couple of characters and suddenly the MCU is a "girls brand ewww"? Seriously, dude?

Did you even see the movie? It's a movie about superheroes and supervillains who happen to be women. What's wrong with that? You could have told the same exact story with an all male cast. It certainly wasn't all "Yay Girl Power!" or male bashing. Captain Marvel doesn't walk up to Nick Fury and say "Obviously since you're a male, you can't handle this." If it had been a CW DC show, you'd have a point. But none of that goes on in this at all.

I liked this movie. I thought it was the most fun Marvel movie of the year, even more so than Guardians. It's the one I'm most likely to get a 3D Blu Ray of.

And by the way, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny didn't make that brand into a girl's brand either. PWB's character doesn't overshadow Indy, And Indy's the one with the majority of the answers. It, too, was a good movie. However, a crowd that wanted to be outraged to be outraged used a word they don't understand (woke) and labelled it as such.

Even Star Wars didn't go from being a boy's brand to a girl's brand. Yes, Rey is something of a Mary Sue, but Star Wars has a long history of strong female characters. Or are you forgetting Padme and Princess Leia?

Besides, why is there even a thing like labelling movies as being strictly for boys or girls? Why can't they be for everyone?

One word. Barbie
One number. 1.4 Billion Dollars

Barbie "is" a girls brand and the movie was marketed towards girls and women. It made 1.4 Billion dollars.
Marvel "was" a boys brand and the last 2 phases have also been marketed towards girls and women. How'd that turn out for them?

This is the difference between the reality of what is, and the fantasy of what you think it should be. This ain't about feelings, only the bottom line which is what Hollywood used to care about. After recent events (Covid, billion dollar movie losses, multi-billion dollar streaming losses) it's all they will go back to caring about.

The woke mob are best ignored. They will trash a movie or TV show relentlessly before the movie/show comes out. They then look to see how said show performs and then they pivot. If the show flops they are like, 'See, told ya' and if the movie is a success they will make every excuse under the sun why and in some cases pit properties against each other when at first they trashed both properties (see; House of the Dragon and Rings of Power).

So they are best ignored.

Hard to guess, i think (and hope) it will be released in Japan but it also could be held for the upcoming Apple Vision Pro, who knows what Disney's plans are for their 3D titles from 2024 and beyond. i don't remember exactly the timeline now with the previous marvel releases in Japan but we should hear something about home releases around xmas or early January.

If they are ramping down the 3D please do it after the two Avengers movies.

I think it's going to be less like Avengers 1-2 where they were an actual team and more like Endgame where it was just every hero alive and they worked within teams for different subplots.

I must have missed where Barbie was a Marvel movie. Oh, that's right. It's not.

Must have been a Disney movie. Oh, that's right. It's not.

You also must not know a lot about comic books since superheroines have been around since forever. Or did you never hear about Wonder Woman?

You must also have missed that Black Widow was part of the MCU from Phase One, along with characters like Peggy Carter and Pepper Potts. And Phase Two gave us The Wasp. The Scarlet Witch, and Gamora among others. So the presence of these strong female characters have been around for the entirety of the MCU.

The average MCU fan has felt that Black Widow should have had her own movie as far back as Phase 2. The fact that Marvel chose to do the movie after killing her character off is a bit of an insult.

And maybe you can explain how Shang Chi, Doctor Strange 2, Spider-Man NWH, Quantumania, and Guardians 3 were marketed as "Girls Movies".

Shuri only became Black Panther because Chadwick Boseman died. Thor Love and Thunder adopts Jane becoming Thor, something that was done in the comics years ago.

TLDR: I reject your theory.

Again, did you actually watch these things or did you just choose to listen to a jackass like The Critical Drinker?
