Hey thanks for all the help and replies so far guys....Much appreciated!

Hey Lou, so funny that you said this. I was just looking at everything 20 mins ago and had the same exact thought. I'm going to do that shortly and see if there is any difference in sound.

Freestyle, the wife would be cool with it as well?

I will be interested in how that goes Fors. I have played around with REW a bit, and found what nulls and peaks I have in my room, but I did not yet want to invest in an EQ until I had duals or something comparable to the Ultra, the good EQ's are pricey. And at the time the new EQ from SVS wasn't out yet . Let me know how this goes for you. It sounds like you may be able to correct some of your response, if it even needs it , with that standing wave adjustment on your Pio. Looking forward to your results!
Side note: I got the REW software, but my soundcard won't calibrate right...says it has 0 data points recorded after the calibration runs, so it can't use it....sorry for the off topic, but if by any chance you experienced something similar could you shoot me a PM? I'm also reading through the HomeTheater Shack thread. Thanks!

Back to your regularly scheduled programming.....

My PB-12 NSD lights up my room like a firecracker. Pioneer Elite receiver told me to set the gain at 12 o' clock, sub level set at -2.0dB when I calibrated with a meter. Seems kinda high, but the sub has never shown signs of stress. Bottom line, if you're less than impressed with your SVS sub....it's tweaking time!

Does your sound card have a line in (not mic in)? If so, it should work fine. To calibrate the sound card you need to run a loopback rca between the line in & line out (with the correct adapters). Also, make sure you have them plugged into the red (Right) rca connection on the adapter if your choose to use the Right channel in REW or white (Left) if you choose to use the Left Channel. Don't connect to the AVR or SPL meter (or mic) yet. If you take a screenshot of the main REW screen I can look for possible issues. You should try to choose your soundcard in the drop downs for line in and line out instead of the defaults. Also make sure your sound card is setup for the same sampling rate picked on the main REW screen and turn off any sound card enhancements.

Since you guys are all SVS owners, which would be recommended for a room that size ? I also want to expand a bit one day so I want something that can do a 25X25 room.
There is nothing wrong with the Supercube I subwoofer. It is a great subwoofer. Assuming the sub is not defective, it is probably your placement, your setup, or your room. You need to move the sub around and adjust its settings on its back and in the receiver. A Guide to Bass Management thread may help. Also, some room treatment, particularly corner traps may help.

Good news. I've started a thread in Audio Theory and Discussion for questions, information, or experiences with REW.

It is a rectangle as well, about 12X25 (of what I use of my basement for my HT anyway), and by no means do I think my PC12-NSD is overkill. I know the Ultra is more powerful and you would have 3 seperate ports, but you would have the option to run none or all 3, which is pretty cool. But I would rather have the horses in the stable, even if I can't let them all run, then not have enough horses when I would need them (like when you move your HT to the bigger room.) All subs can be calibrated to a good degree to play nicely in a room, and I know even the Ultra can do that in your 17X25 room IMO.
Damn I was hoping people would say "ya it's overkill" so I could feel better about myself and save the bucks LOL...no but in all seriousness I usually buy a little bit more than what's needed in everything in case of expansion and whatnot so I'll probably eventually go with that one. Ya I'll go check out your setup !

I've moved it around pretty much everywhere including the back of the couch. That was the place I had the most "luck". But then I moved it closer to the front right speaker and it's not too bad but not great. A lot of vibration from the sub itself as if the cabinet is loose. I brought the sub into the dealer I bought it from cuz it sounded like it was blown. They checked the computer and advised me that I was lucky since the warranty was up in 3weeks ! So they tried fixing it and had Def Tech send them parts but they couldn't pinpoint the problem so they gave me a brand new one (the one I currently have)! That was about a year ago. Maybe I just suck at setting it up, I don't know. I'll check that link, thanks !

I did it guys! This time next week I'll be the proud owner of a Dual SVS setup!!

Just got my tracking number.
Scheduled Delivery: 11-August-2009

I went ahead and ordered 2 of the 25' sub cables from Monoprice. I hope they will be here when the sub arrives.
I'm pretty excited and pictures will be provided of the Dueling Monsters!

Wow, really nice! Since I'm also contemplating the idea of another SVS cylinder to the family (not sure when it will be possible), I want to get your detailed impressions on the end result!

Congrats X2!!! Now you can officially open up a car wash!

A second sub is in my future as well brokenthumb. I did a projected personal finance budget to the end of the year, and after bills, spend money, and an allotment for things that "pop" up that need money spent, I should have an extra $1,000 laying around by Thanksgiving. So, will it be a front projector (hint..hint... ) or a second SVS sub for me?

Wow, first you get a new front projector and now this? Is there no stopping you!!!

forsberg21 I was wondering, how do you have your buttkicker connected with two subs?

Here are the results of the REW on my PC12-NSD. First, it appears that my Elite does not incorporate my Elite's calibration settings (and thus the cross-overs too, but not 100% about this) when using the Multi-channel input for the subwoofer. I can't find any way my receiver will allow me to use my SC-05's calibration and crossovers. But anyway, I do get an idea of how well the sub is performing within my room. As you can see on the graph, it is actually not bad at all, with only small peaks or nulls with a variance of 10 db's or so on the low end, but it is always above target. I do get a larger null at 100Hz, but I don't really think that is significant since that's the higher end of the LFE frequency. When you also consider that my receiver's EQ was not used, I am quite happy with the results. To me, this means I have my sub in a very good location and will not need to move this behemoth any more....thankfully!
