Again watched Ronal the Barbarian. Adult oriented, this 2011 animated Danish satirization of the Conan movie is a laugh riot from beginning to end. Ronal, outrageously puny with a total lack of self esteem, is the only member of a village of medieval muscular barbarians to escape capture by an opposing klan. He attempts a rescue using a leather thong accompanied by an effeminate elf, a no talent bard in training and female warrior.

This disc is a reminder that even mild 3D can still be quite impressive. While depth is limited, within those confines exists excellent spatial separation with objects protruding somewhat beyond the screen. Nice color saturation and detail. In short, though maybe not so immersive Ronal the Barbarian is still very enjoyable to watch in 3D..

A Region B French release with excellent DTS 5.1 English audio, the disc unfortunately includes forced French subtitles which can be a distraction. But highly recommended for the adult audience.

Watched Mockingjay 2. The movie isn’t quite as strong, but the 3D is stronger. Atmos track excellent.

I was just looking at purchasing this Joe, looking at 2D trailers I’m surprised to read all the negative reviews on the very mild 3D, I wonder if they had a problem with the transfer ?.
Also I see the only option is the French one with English audio but has forced subs. I’d of been happy with the German edition but it doesn’t seem to have English subs !.

I'm not Joe But there is nothing wrong with the transfer, the 3D is very mild. The best 3D in this movie might be the end credits. I rip my discs to drive so I'm usually able to bypass forced subs but I'm glad I was able to find good English subs because the English dub for the Amazon queen is horrible bordering on being racist. I hate saying this because it feeds into a largely manufactured Hollywood studio narrative. But for me it really is that bad.

I recall it being slow and uneventful with mild 3D but perhaps I need to rewatch it myself...

I liked the 3D in 009. Not much intentional pop-out but pretty decent depth. It's somewhat unique seeing 2D anime in stereo. The 3D was created by Production I.G in-house and looks much cleaner than Q-tec's conversions.

I agree on slow and uneventful. The movie itself is a little disappointing. Some good moments, but too talky and existential.

For anyone looking to buy it, make sure you get that UK version pictured and not the Australian disc, because the Aussie disc has no audio in the center channel.

Another great oldie "Pompeii" from 2014. Excellent depth and spatial separation makes it's outstanding special effects a must see in 3D - and let down in any other format.

A downer when the first thing I saw on the screen was the Sony 3D bluray promo. Reminded me of a more optimistic time when it appeared home theater 3D would continue as a niche product. But after that a great watch. Wonderful use of popouts. Even dark scenes exhib very good depth, detail and color saturation.

Accompanied by a room filling DTS 5.1 master soundtrack (converted to DTS neural X for 7.1) ten years later Pompeii still remains a visual and audio feast

Yeah on a quick scan this one still looks crap to me. Not the 3D, just the movie but I'll get round to watching it....eventually

Hi cdx

Got so wrapped up with the 3D and special effects that the story was secondary.

Yeah I'm normally the same. I might make myself watch it sooner just to see what happens

What a poor copy of Ben Stassen's masterpiece. The original disc is pure 3d gold (!!!)
