Personally, I wouldn't recommend it. I has some bugs (occasionally freezes, low IR range, runaway volume....)

Unless you plan on using the RF extender, I would suggest getting the One instead (or the 550 depending on what you are looking for).

For the differences between the 1000 and the 1100...

I own a 1000 for over a 2 years now .I love it . At first it was buggy but firmware corrected alot bugs (freezes and so on) .179 is a good deal as long as its new. Iwould rec the RF extender. I know the 1100 have some new features or up grades but do not know what .go to amazon and check out the consumer reviews

I think the main reason why peeps think twice about the 1000/1100, is the fact of using a touchscreen over hard buttons for most commands. The 1100 does have the raised markings on the fascia's left handside next to the touchscreen so it is easier to navigate 'feel-wise' than the 1000.

I've been happy with my 1000 since it was released, and am used to the touch screen, but if you prefer the tacility of using hard buttons, then you may want to look at the Harmony One or 895 ?

I have the 1100 and i love it.
I was talking to a Harmony Representative before buying it and he told me that the biggest difference between the 1000 and the 1100 was that the 1100 had a quicker response.

What ever universal remote you pick,i say stick with Harmony.

Support means everything and Harmony is amazing for that

Totally agree with you ozzman. Ok, they really peed a few peeps off (including myself) when they originally advertised the 1000 as offering to push Z-Wave support (mainly for lighting control), and then scrapped the idea after we'd all made the purchase !

Even so, it has the largest product control database, and is pretty swift to setup. I've read some stories where owners find the software impossible to understand, but to me it shows a lack of patience and willing to learn.

I think the majority of peeps find the software a doddle to setup, and like anything, you'll get more out if you put more in. If you really are stuck, then the customer support team are pretty 'on it', and can even setup your remote from their end. That's the great thing about the online user interface.
