This is a bit odd. I placed a CR order last night, and it's not appearing on my account page, either as a processed or open order. Thing is, I did get a verification e-mail from them, but the link there just sends me to a blank "account overview" page.

Is this normal operating procedure for their orders?

Azur Lane (already finished this one, as the uncensored version did not make it to CR)
Blood-C
Code Geass: Akito the Exiled
Galaxy Angel Rune
Inari KonKon
Kamisama Kiss S1-2
Sengoku Basara S1-2 (assorted eps I missed in a group-watch)
Soul Eater NOT (though I haven't seen the original series)
Many of the not transferred titles listed on the Google doc found on r/Crunchyroll a while back I already own or already got through.

I'm trying to get through many things I started through FUNi even if they got transferred, in part because many of these, I had started the broadcast version way back when, and I want to finish it that way for consistency. Though some shows I can't do that because they stopped streaming the broadcast version (Ex: Lord Marksman and Vanadis). I like that they stopped the practice of outright removing the broadcast versions and let people watch either one. Shame Crunchyroll doesn't give that option, and even HIDIVE now is having that problem.
https://myanimelist.net/animelist/Bi...&order=&tag=FN

Note: I used to have a terrible habit of starting just the first episode of a show, and then failing to keep up, so that makes things fun. My on-hold list in general is ugh. Also I'm a completionist, so there's that too.

BTW, it would be nice to know what shows don't have the uncut English dub on Crunchyroll but do have it on FUNimation so I can add any potentially missing credits to ANN while I still can because afterwards, I will have to look at the discs for English credits unless I can search the high seas for rips with them. I only buy the stuff I care about and liked enough, so a lot of info would remain missing. It can be surprising what people won't enter...

I do enter info even if it's for shows I didn't care for because I know someone does care about it.

The only ones I know for sure are Zombieland Saga s1 and Kageki Shoujo since the home video version had dubbed songs as well in these and CR uploaded the broadcast version when they moved them over there. Realist Hero s1 also had dubbed singing in the BD but was never updated on CR or Funimation and the same with Kaguya s3 where one of the voice actors was sick and was replaced for a few episodes (most notably the episode with the dubbed rap song). This was fixed in the BD version but I don't think was ever uploaded anywhere.

I am not sure if CR ever updated the earlier Attack on Titan seasons either that had a lot of animation work changed for the BD but maybe they did since the dub was added so much later. Also not a dub but I am pretty sure CR still uses those old broadcast versions of Bakemonogatari too with the bad subs and Funimation has hardcoded subs that match the blu-ray.

Honestly I have three other titles from Funimation’s Catalogue that I still want to own on Blu Ray. One is a UK Blu Ray of both seasons of Silver Spoon, second is a German Blu Ray of Texhnolyze it’s quite Nice, and lastly is Samurai Flamenco’s nice Blu Ray box. I already listed the titles that are still on my Funimation’s queue that I didn’t have on there before a few weeks ago.

Those Titles being
Aquarion

Aquarion EVOL

Samurai Flamenco

Yatterman Night

.hack//roots

Silver Spoon

And a few other titles I forgot the names of

Sadly looking extremely unlikely at this point. Season 2, Part 1 came out in September 2020, that was almost 3.5 years ago at this point.

Really would like to know what happened. S1 got a Limited Edition, S2 doesn't get one, and then is incomplete? Should be noted the Japanese home video release never happened for either season, so that might have something to do with it, even though FUNimation had released shows in the past where the Japanese home video release didn't happen.

I found the answer. My order is on the "legacy" RightStuf site, even though I ordered from CR.

Funimation’s solution for wiping out digital libraries could be good, if it works

The president of Crunchyroll, Rahul Purini, announced that the company is working to compensate customers who will lose their digital libraries in the upcoming Funimation / Crunchyroll merger on April 2nd.

“[We] are working really hard directly with each [customer] to ensure that they have an appropriate value for what they got in the digital copy initially,” Purini tells Verge editor-in-chief Nilay Patel during this week’s Decoder podcast. “As people reach out to us through customer service, we are responding and handling each of those requests as they prefer.”

When asked what “appropriate value” meant, Purini said, “So it could be that they get access to a digital copy on any of the existing other services where they might be able to access it. It could be a discount access to our subscription service so they can get access to the same shows through our subscription service.”

These options haven’t been formally announced or detailed, and Purini went on to say that it was something Crunchyroll customers are currently taking advantage of. My attempts to secure the “appropriate value” for some digital copies have, so far, been unsuccessful.

Willing to take a guess that next month, they will announce A Season 3 release for Demon Slayer, AOT Season 4 Part 3 set with the Ovas, and Chainsaw Man Blu-ray…… that I can get from the All The Anime first somehow

Crunchyroll CEO Says A.I. Generated Subtitles Are "Definitely an Area We're Focused On"

"Crunchyroll CEO Rahul Purini says A.I.-generated subtitles are an area that the streaming service is currently heavily investing in -- perhaps to the dismay of some anime-viewing audiences."

I will not watch anything with AI generated subtitles. Machine translation, especially for a context-heavy language like Japanese is not good. A bad translation can be worse than no translation at all. Gotta love how translators are not valued (the fact they underpay them and can't properly prominently credit them says everything).
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...6#post21881076

Hopefully anything they give AI subs gets actual fansubs so I can watch those instead.

I got bad news for you. A large portion of fansub groups all the way back in '08 were running the broadcast subtitles through ATLAS/google translate/MeCab etc and then using their ears on the stuff that didn't make exact sense. Then it got handed over to the editor so they could clean up the english. "Speedsubs" were not magic.

If you think CR is doing anything differently, a lot of the same fansub translators work for CR as contract workers now.

AI translation as a base might be alright so long as a human is there to rewatch and check the subs, and improve them where needed.

That’s likely what will end up happening… for some shows. I would imagine smaller, more niche stuff that doesn’t attract a lot of eyeballs, won’t always get the best translation and will be nigh unwatchable because of it.

Yeah they are just saying that to make it seem like they are doing something and they know barely any people will ask for compensation. Part of me wants to claim all of my codes lol

Using AI based translations for subtitles, and then later dumping it on physical media sounds like a disaster. But has anyone considered what could happen, if AI did become good enough for accurate auto translation in the future? if they kept tweaking the AI, I assume it could improve to that point in the distant future.

Wouldn't that effectively kill the western market? if anyone could just access any raws, and then use an auto translator.
