The 360 currently has a superior library of games, especially exclusives. The PS3 is still playing catch-up in that department. The level of integration of Xbox Live into the 360 is far, far superior to what PSN and the PS3 have. The fact that at any time during any game, I can press a button and access my full friend list, and even start voice chats with friends regardless of whether we are in the same game, different games, or no games at all is very convenient and useful. Xbox Live is definitely worth the $50 a year, no question about it, because of how well it is integrated into the 360.These are the two primary things that make the 360 a superior gaming machine to the PS3.

Where the PS3 makes up ground is outside of the purely gaming perspective. The PS3 has more reliable hardware. The PS3 has its {superior} high def drive included. The fact that the hard drive is standard equipment on the PS3, rather than optional equipment on the 360, is better, as it allows for developers to use the hard drive for data caching, which would mean faster load times, among other things {I assume the PS3 does this, since it was a very useful feature on the original Xbox}.

Both consoles do some things well, and fail at other things. Gamers who are really into their gaming hobby should just buy both and enjoy them both. No point in arguing over things when both are worth owning.

I would agree that the PS3 is still playing catch-up on the game inventory side and would also agree that the on-line capabilities of the 360 are currently superior. However, most of what you have pointed out as weaknesses of the PS3 can and will be resolved over time via software, whereas the weaknesses with the XBOX are hardware based. This is the big difference and for gamers and non-gamers a-like, if your looking for a superior gaming environment, it ain't XBOX 360 or Wii, it's the PS3. PS3's hardware, expandibility and future capabilities are simply better.

I like having all the systems (even PSP/DS). No worries about exclusive this and that. I just hope for premium games to come out for the PS3 and not 360-port leftovers.

Another plus for the PS3 is the footprint. With the 360, if I wanted HD DVD, I'd have to attach a drive and have more crap taking up space.

I'm surprised they didn't come out with a model that had the HD DVD built in. Who in the heck want's all that clutter?

I have on my hard drive about 2 hd movies 8 episodes from various shows all my saves 8 arcade games and still have like 13.6gb left

Let me slide it on ya here ppl:
60 GB PS3: $500; $100 savings available via Sony Card promotion makes it $400.
360 Premium: $350
I'm using the Premium for this example as it has a hard drive and (now) has HDMI, albeit 1.2 instead of 1.3. Still, to get comparable functionality, the 360 will need the following, which are free and/or built into all PS3s:
Wireless controller charger: $20
HD Movie player: $180
WiFi: $100
XBox Live subscription: $50/year after the first.

So currently, we have:
$400-$500 for PS3, comes with 5 BDs. HDMI cable costs extra
$350-$650 for a 360 + the cost of Live. Comes with 5 HDDVDs if add-in player is purchased. I know the Elite comes with HDMI cable, not sure about Prem.

But what's the better deal? That's for each of us to decide, based on opinions about games, movies, the shape of the controller, and the need or lack thereof for online functions.

JUst some points, 9 months into the existence of XboxLive, it sucked. THis suppossed massive amount of titles the 360 has, well, until Gears came out most of its games were on par with PS2. Oh and doesn't the PS3 have access to the entire PS and PS2 library? So in reality which system has more playable games. The PSN will improve with time. As for games, they are coming. Software Devs are already starting to tout the superiority of having a 50gig disk versus 8.5gigs.

Just remember M$ fanboys, the typical life span of a M$ product is 2 years before being outmoded. M$ has a horrendous record as far as product compatability goes. So in 8 months when they announce the replacement to your beloved 360, most those games you love so much will be unplayable on your new system and you will be waiting for the new good ones to come out. Just don't complain when at first all you get are watered down versions ported over from the PS3.

Not to mention the price to upgrade a 360 to PS3 capabilities. But thats just how I see it.

Nothing beats the Wii's online capabilities! News and weather... oh yeah baby! It's not like I can check that on my blackberry. Oh no!

But seriously I hope they let me play cooking mama online someday.

The real strength of the 360 is xboxLive period.

1.You can talk freely in any game no holding any buttons to talk.

2.You can also go into a private chat without having to quit playing.

3.You can send voice messages. Text is there too but this is way faster.

4.The headsets(wired) are like talking on a phone, clear and plenty loud.

It's short comings IMHO are the 20gb HD , the core not having a HD and the dvd format. To get the same content that comes on the ps3 version of RB6:Vegas I have 2.2gb worth of map packs etc. just for one game! I have several map packs for Gears of War also throw a couple of demos on there and you have less than 2gb left. Because there is roughly 6gb you cant use anyway its all M$ crap you cant delete.

Don't get me wrong I love my ps3 but even if all the games in the world come out they still have to get there online system up to par.

In team oriented online matches communication is essential. Holding a button down to talk sucks I don't care what anyone says.
