Default Monoprice HDMI Cable

Is it worth the extra $15 to buy the 1.3 rated HDMI cable from monoprice if you have 1.3 capable components?

I would say yes. It is a category 2 cable so it is 1.3 and 1.3a. It can handle a higher bandwidth for 1080p. Even if you do not have a 1080p TV you may eventually and then you are already set with that cable.

That is incorrect. They all handle 1080P, the 1.3 allows more bandwidth for the newer HD audio codecs.

I got 6 HDMI cables from mono & they were 4.56 each or less and they work perfect you dont need 2 spend a lot on cables to get the best pic/audio.

That is true but you will notice a lot more artifacting on the category 1 cable than you will on the category 2, running 1080p, because of that bandwidth difference.

Monster is using this as a demo to show that their cables are "better" because they are useing an off brand cat1 cable compaired to their cat2 cable. Most of your consumers and even some sales people don't realize the difference between the two categories.

Hey,

Just wanted to add I bought my 25 foot HDMI cable from mono-price and it wasn't the highest prices monoprice one it was $20 if I remember correctly. Anyway,.. I send 1080p from my PS3 to my projector with it and it has never, ever, had any trouble. Even when my PS3 switches often to 720p (some game demos) or 480p (like for a extra on a Blu Ray that's not in HD) the cable never misses a beat.

In short,.. Monoprice rules.
