The games themselves aren't truly scary or horrifying, (well maybe FNAF 4), the gameplay relies more on the stressful (and panic if its your first time playing) experience of playing them. Each game has a different game mechanic and the scare factor comes primarly from the anticipation of getting jumpscared by an animatronic. The game's lore itself tho is way, way, WAY more interesting and is the main thing fans get crazy about. It's disturbing at times yet silly in a supernatural/ sci-fi kinda way. The movie is watchable in my opinion but it's not scary. Average at best and honestly it didn't the games justice enough. It's entertaining, the animatronics look faithful, has some nice kills, and is simple enough for people who are unfamiliar with the games. Also it has its own cannon/storyline separate from the games.
