Two discs I've watched recently that use to play fine.

Carrie (2013) and Cruella 4K. I reached out to Disney via their home video site for Cruella (since it's relatively new) and I got a form email saying I was out of luck but maybe clean the disc. I reached to their Insiders program as well but I'm sure I'm SOL.

My 2011 UK Region B disc of The Man Who Fell to Earth from Optimum is bronzed and dead.

Tried it in a couple of players and get the error message "Incomparable".

Just purchased the overpriced 4K to replace it. At least I get 2 discs and hopefully one of them will last more than 12 years.

My 2009 Fox region B Predator 2 disc has bitten the dust. No bronzing I can see, disc surface is pristine.

Multiple freezes/jumping. Gives me an excuse to upgrade to the 4K, I suppose.

I watched this maybe a year ago, I want to say last summer, and mine still played fine then. Would have been on either a LG or Panasonic standard blu-ray player.

Took a chance on a thrift store copy of Tell No One (the Music Box release) that had light bronzing on the inner and outer rims. No issues ripping, but other owners might want to double-check their discs.

Yikes. Just checked, mine is bronzing too.

I played the first second or two of each chapter, and it seems okay.

I got a Blu-ray copy of V8-2 from the Dollar Tree and it had the wrong movie on the disc. I think they all were like that.

Shout Factory Herzog: The Collection 13 disc blu ray set purchased from Target during a recent sale contained four discs that froze, even after cleaning: 2 Land of Silence, 9 Fitzcarroldo, 11 Cobra Verde, and 13 My Best Fiend. Player was a Sony X700.

Is this a modded player?

I got mine a couple years ago, I've watched the first 6 or 7 discs, no problems with those. Though slots and scratches are always a concern with these sorts of things. Any sign of scratches (or pitting) on your discs? (It's been a while since I looked, but I noted when I first opened it up that "discs are pitted, some scratched a bit; hope they play")

I should get back to this set and finish it up… I wish I had more time, especially the commentaries, which from what I sampled have been interesting/helpful… I like listening to Herzog. But despise this sort of packaging per what it does to discs.

(Oppo by the way.)

Came across three discs that have completely bronzed:

The Brave One (spot checked thru all the chapter stops - played fine)
The Signal (started freezing up after the first few chapters)
Splinter (started freezing up after the first few chapters)

If anybody has any of these titles can you check your copies? I'm worried about buying them again for fear that they're all defective.

I have at least 2 discs from the same company and the same time frame, which are so bronzed, they aren't even recognized by my BD player so I'm not surprised.

I'm starting to think my Alien 4K has fallen victim to this. There's nothing outwardly wrong with the disc. It looks perfect but started glitching and froze a hair over 30 minutes into it. I've decided to check my older Fox 4Ks that I have not watched in a long time. Checked out Predator 4K a couple hours ago. It's one of my oldest ones and it worked flawlessly **fingers crossed** ...going to do Predator 2, Predators and Die Hard tomorrow. I hope my issue with Alien was just a bum disc and not indicative of a larger problem..

I had to throw out my copy of The World’s End (2013, Universal disc) for some pretty bad bronzing, would start to freeze and skip something awful about halfway through. I threw it out before checking for a code though. Also Batman: The Movie (1966, 2008 Fox disc) freezes at the climactic fight on the submarine, but I can’t see any issues or damage on the disc’s surface so I don’t know what happened there. There seem to be two different codes, H2101 and H1201. Not sure what it means.

Are you trying to these on two different players?

Ace Ventura from WB, played fine about 5 years ago. Tried it yesterday and kept breaking up on multiple players. No bronzing, no damage to disc.
