Loved the first one and I can't wait to see more.

Wonder if they're going back to Vegas or going to a new destination.

Also, glad to see the original cast is all back!

According to Dark Horizons the release date for The Hangover 2 is May 27, 2011. Phillips next film, Due Date, will be released June 4, 2010. It again stars Zach Galifanakis as well as Robert Downey Jr. and is about an expectant father (Downey Jr.) forced to take a road trip home with a slacker (Galifanakis) in order to make it to his child's birth.

My fear with the sequel is now the bar is set pretty high and if the concept of random discoveries after a night of drinking can be stretched into a sequel. As a standalone movie, it's great, but I guess I'll wait and see on this one. I HOPE it's good, but skeptical.

Is the sequel just going to be them blowing off work and going to Amsterdam for a week of insanity? Actually...

Personally, I thought the movie was funny but not equivalent to all the hype it is getting. I think people were just desperate to see another Old School film that it just got all that demographic going and ran to the bank with it.

I think Old School and in some regards even Road Trip were funnier on my first viewing. And, all the freakin commercials and trailers pretty much gave away all the funny parts so i sorta chuckled when they came through.

A sequel to this film is a bad idea. Take lightening in a bottle and leave it alone. Comedy sequels rarely succeed. And while I am guessing everyone will run to see it opening weekend and it will bank a huge payoff, overall it will be disappointing.

I agree. The original movie was contrived enough, so it would be very difficult to have any freshness in a sequel. I enjoyed--though apparently less than some others did--but if it's just a retread in a different city then I don't think it will be worth watching.

Yeah I mean if they stick to putting stuff in the movie that almost everyone whose ever been trashed has experienced then it should be golden again, but if they branch away from that it could bomb, I'll still buy it

The Hangover 2 Already Filming

When I spoke to director Todd Phillips at this year’s Guy Choice Awards in June, he told me shooting would begin on The Hangover 2 on October 15. He was close. The reason I say close is I’ve been told the sequel has actually started filming here in Los Angeles. According to my source, shooting began on September 29th and production will continue here until the end of October. At that point, the cast and crew will move to Thailand, and they’ll continue shooting till they wrap.

While everyone is trying to figure out exactly what happens in the sequel to the biggest R rated comedy of all time, I’m actually hoping to stay in the dark as long as possible. All too often we learn about the major plot points before a movie gets released, and for a comedy, not knowing what happens is always better. Of course the studio has to advertise the movie, so the trailer will tell us too much no matter what.

Either way, I’m incredibly excited the sequel to The Hangover is filming right now. The Hangover 2 gets released May 26, 2011. Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianakis are all confirmed to be returning with Ken Jeong and Justin Bartha expected to return. More as we hear it.

Renne Zellweger in Hangover 2?

Renee Zellweger is said to be in talks for a role in "The Hangover 2’’. Should Bridget Jones decide to book a date with the boozing wild boys, she’d be reunited with her ''Case'' 39 co-star (and real-life boyfriend) Bradley Cooper.

"Renee loves the first movie and this just gives her and Brad a reason to hang out together on set. The funny thing is Renee looks like playing a girl the guys meet and one of them has a one-night-stand with her - only it's not Brad''s character!" a source tells MSN News.

Hmmm... take it with a grain of salt.

In more credible news, Empire Magazine spoke to writer/director Todd Phillips who says the film will see the crazy quartet headed to Bangkok.
"It takes place in Bangkok and LA," Phillips told Empire. "There's gonna be some f****d-up surprises. The entire cast – Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifinakis, Ed Helms and Justin Bartha – are back. "The three guys are back," Phillips said. "Mr. Chow's back too”, he adds, referring to the character played by medical practitioner cum actor Ken Jeong.

I said possibility because Scott Philips used this term:

The film’s director Todd Philips (Old School) said this week “We were thinking of sequel ideas when we were shooting, which sounds cocky, but we were doing it more because it was just fun to talk about ideas while hanging out on the set. Two weeks ago I was saying, ‘let’s see how it works out.’ Now that the movie has really connected, it’s something we’re doing for sure.”

LeAnn and I watched the movie Saturday. It had some funny parts, but it's not compared to the 1st movie. It wasn't disappointing,

I have it 3 Stars, but I'll still get it on BD when it releases.

To be honest, I wasn't a big fan of the first Hangover movie. I remember enjoying it but couldnt help but feel it was very undeserving of all the attention it received...very overhyped. I have friends tell me they can watch that movie over and over and always laugh at it and i often wonder why or how they find it SO different from any other movie of the sort.

Id rate the first film a 6 or 7 out of 10, mainly because it offers some laughs but its not the hilarious roller coaster ride of comedy excellence people make it out to be. An above average comedy in nearly every way.

Anyway, that being said I'd rate The Hangover Part II a 3 out of 10. It is basically the first film with same situations in a different location. As i felt the first movie tried hard for its laughs The Hangover Part II tries even harder and succeeds even less IMO. I found its jokes and gags to be...well...lame, like they were trying to beat us over going from one extreme to another. Oh well...now that they have the formula down for these fims it wouldnt surprise me if The Hangover Part III hits the express lane and comes out next summer instead of later.
