Interesting article about 300 on BD and HD. The article is clearly focused on the HD release about all the bells and whistles in contains. The writer is pretty ga ga over the HD release. The only thing he neglects to mention is how the BD version has out sold the HD version by fairly high margin and is the top high def dvd seller overall. I guess people don't really care about web enabled discs.

ABSOLUTELY!!

This should be a warning sign for everyone to step up during its release date. Plain and simple: Blu-Ray has to have the lead during that week!! It is of paramount importance!!!!!

Hairspray ad mentions Blu-ray day and date

Think there will be a two page spread next year for the HD DVD release?

HD-Dud is holding strong. Blu-ray is going to be in the fight for it’s life this year.

If it can hold above 70% this winter it will be all over for HD-DVD.

Not really considering the content.
A concert, when have those ever sold well?
A boxoffice bomb where the core demographic is excited about the picture just being in color.
A 4th season of a moderate cable tv show.
A catalog title of a film that not many people care about.

Next week will be just as poor, but in two weeks, the floodgates open and every single week there are tons of small and big catalog titles as well as day and date blockbusters.

Oct 16th still remains the only week this year that I think HD DVD will win. But it will be quickly forgotten two weeks later.

i don't think its going to win the 16th, if it couldn't win last weeks numbers, its not going to win the 16th.

Notice how he said the Blu-ray was a 1080i transfer not 1080p. Who is this guy? The article is on page 24.

Someone wrote that last week's numbers were a battle won without firing a single shot.

This week's numbers are a battle won by firing a single shot and missing.

I wouldn't be the least bit suprised if the BDA has something up their sleeve to counteract Transformers for that week. Ya hear that Warner...ahem (V for Vendetta) ahem or something...throw us a bone already.

Yeah, I also like the "typo" where he says the BD has a beautiful 1080i transfer... "i". Oops, did I write that.

No surprise but a damn shame for the Dave Concert. The Dave Concert is top notch AQ and PQ. It's what HD is all about.

Transformers will sell well, but after that dies down, isn't it just a steamnroller through X-Mas w/ all of the Spideys, POTC:AWE, Simpsons, Cars, Ratatouille and so on? Also I think Simpons will be an item that is collected very disporportionately comapred to its box office take. I'd be interested to see where the sales of just The Simpsons ends up versus Transformers; I wouldn't be shocked if Simpsons pushes more units over time.

Not sure, I hadn't even checked actually.... just guessing they'll get it out before X-MAs.

Seeing todays Nielsen number I look at Universal releases and they are selling really poorly. I know for a fact these numbers are being crunched and are starting to make them really think about coming over to Blu-Ray which their films would sell alot more since there is a bigger install base of players.

Hopefully they will do this action as they did it in the past Matrix on HD-DVD facing POTC ON BD and we win at the end.

I WISH They release one or two of their promises titles to be released later on BD like Batman Begins or Matrix (this time including at least DolbyTHD or PCM)

I think Batman is likely, Matrix is not.
