Default Cars?

I see that Amazon has a pre-order for "Cars" up. It is a Disney release and it comes out on November 10th; same day as Monster's Inc. and Up!. Is this the Pixar Cars (a new re-release perhaps) or something different.

I see that. Well if it is a re-release of Cars w/ a DVD, hopefully it will have a digital copy as well. Hope they post a cover art soon.

since it's a 2 disc set the 2nd disc is the dvd so most likely no digital copy unless they do it like Wall-E 2 disc set and a 3 disc set

Bleh I won't buy it again even though my slip case got ripped when I moved my movie from the original case into the new one that's a bit fatter.

Worth $34.99 though? I don't have this yet but I don't think I want it for that much!

I was hoping that it was a Cars update with DTS-HD MA.

Why bother? Uncompressed PCM is best anyways (despite what everyone says about LOSSLESS = LOSSLESS). And, Uncompressed PCM is what was put on the first release.

Exactly. If this is indeed legit, who knows when it is coming out. It would make most sense to release it closer to when the second one is coming out in theaters if they truly are going to double dip. I'll pass though. I'm good with my original release.

The current price is only a "placeholder" price. Most releases drop down from that price before they are released. Nothing has even been announced for this, so there is no official price anyways.

Ultimate Disney has a confirmation:
Quote:
Alongside Up and Monsters, Inc., Disney will re-release Cars in a limited-run Blu-ray/DVD Combo Gift Pack on November 10th. The new set ($49.99 SRP) will package together the 2006 Blu-ray Disc and DVD releases next to two exclusive die-cast cars (a yellow Lightning McQueen and ruby red Mater) featuring Ransburg paint. Preorder from Amazon.com.
When I first went Blu in May this was among the first titles we bought when we purchased our Bluray player. Now I'm going to want this set since I don't have a DVD version.

will it be in a single NEW case or will it just be the DVD and Blu Ray Packages back to basic shrink wrapped together? Looks like Nov 10th is shaping up to be a very Expensive day

I agree. But I was just thinking that it would give Disney a reason to resell their already released older BD's. Technically speaking PCM might be the best because it's uncompressed, but DTS-HD MA sounds much sexier (marketing speaking), don't you think? I was commenting purely for marketing reasons. I was thinking that Disney would eventually re-release Cars and the Rat movie with DTS-HD MA.

P.S.
I see, I wrote "hoping" when I should have written "thinking" with my first post.

I'm sure it will be a 2-Disc case or 3-Disc if it ends up including a Digital Copy but it will most likely be in a box of some sort seeing as it includes the toy cars.

And you're right it's gonna be MAJORLY expensive for November. Up, Monsters, Inc., Cars Gift Set, Star Trek, Gone With the Wind Gift Set, etc.

I'm surprised this is getting a re-release so quick. When is Cars 2 slated to come out?

No double dip for me here, thanx.

BTW I don't see why on earth Disney would replace the PCM track with a DTS-HD MA track just to please DTS Fanboys.
Makes no sense at all, unless they were thinking about adding more supplements. In that case the extra space that the PCM track takes might be needed. But if the disc is going to be identical, then I don't see any single reason to replace the EXCELLENT PCM tracks in Cars and Ratatouille.

wont be double dipping. basically the same thing but with "collector" cars. i doubt these will have any value like the blu mcqueen did. unless cars goes in a vault then maybe 10 yrs later but i doubt it
