Maybe because I'm just about the character's age now, and not twenty years younger (like the last/only time I saw it), I found it to be far less cringe than I remembered. Even what I remembered as the most maudlin moments at the end with the conversation between Lemmon and Heineman in the beach house, hit me different now.

Hell, I get more cringe than that in some of these threads sometimes, waxing nostalgic to an audience that couldn't care less

Bottom line is that I'm so glad I popped for this release. Even if Kino puts it out in a much more economical package at some point, it's become a worthwhile enough film for me that I don't mind the outlay.
