Lost World looks the best of the bunch. Even its original Blu looked the best. Gorgeous transfer.

Pity it's my least favorite of the original trilogy...

Not sure why TLW looks so good and JP looks just OK. Not sure they did anything for JP III. 1 & 3 need new transfers badly.

You don't think even the extended cut helped with the edits? That's actually what the movie was always meant to be, until Universal told them to cut it to under 2.5 hours.

Jurassic park 3 actually in terms of the transfer looks very good, it's just that the hdr implementation is not good which resulted in the movie on disc looking very dark with lifeless color. Just fix that and you'll have a great looking disc also. JP 1 though I agree definitely needs a new transfer asap.

To each their own. The Lost World to me is easily the best sequel out of the entire franchise bar none. Despite its issues, the pros far outweigh the cons.

Jurassic Park got fed through a more meticulous over-restoration process making it look gummy and weird. The Lost World was given the traditional once over and thusly looks the best of the bunch.

My issue is that it was clearly (and inconsistently) hit with DNR throughout. Some scenes look nearly untouched and others almost wax. The CGI scenes are basically nuked looking straight-up hideous. (Twister's remaster is a much much better example of how to handle CGI composite scenes on film) Encoding is generally bad. It needs a do-over like JP.

I personally didn't noticed thr dnr as much as JP1. Also the cgi I didn't see were as nuked as say JP1 where it was really noticeable and distracting. Honestly the encoding is something that's not really noticeable to the untrained eye unless your really looking for it. If only one movie needed a new transfer and remaster it would definitely be JP1 but yeah JP3 could benefit also.

One thing I will say about The Lost World is that the 4K made me appreciate it more. I’ve never disliked it and generally just think it’s alright, but that disc is the one I reach for when I want to enjoy some good looking dinos (even though JP still gets watched much more often).

The only thing that's really improved with the extended cut is the prologue, which is by and far the best part of the movie.
Otherwise all it did was make a bad movie longer.

It also adds some other scenes that makes the editing not as jarring, and a scene that actually explains Dodgson's motivations with the hard drive.

I’m in a very small camp that like all three Jurassic World movies. I liked the haunted house horror style of Fallen Kingdom, and mostly liked Dominion aside from the OG characters and the new characters meeting falling flat. My least favorite movie by far is still Jurassic Park III. But none of the movies touch the original, which I still consider more of a standalone classic movie and the rest are just… there.

Could someone please explain to me why the World movies are hated, aside from the typical answer, “because they’re stupid”?

To me the World movies are everything bad about 3 cranked-up to 11. There's more vision and cinema and aesthetic in 3 than the complete turd fest that is the World trilogy. No amount of animatronics and original actors could save those. It's one plastic Hollywood boardroom moment after another. Embodies everything I dislike about current decade mainstream films. The first one is probably the least awful but oh my lord!!

I actually think the first World was the most generic of the 3, or the most “studio” as Kyle15 put it. The other two kind of go off the rails but in a good way. JP III though for me felt the most uninspired, like it was just deleted ideas from the first two strung together with a barebones plot and lame characters.

On paper it is narratively. It's just the aesthetic of it and the way its put together I've always enjoyed. The craft is certainly there. It's the last one which still felt like Jurassic Park to me in that regard!

Jurassic Park III is a ton of fun when you think of the Spinosaurus as Jason Voorhees stomping around and the characters as slasher fodder.

It isn’t gold, but I always enjoy watching it.

Lousy scripts and mostly unlikable or forgettable characters.
