Wow, seriously? Did you just drop in from the AVS forums or what?
I guess I should apologize if my tone came off as hostile. I'm sorry. My response to the disc is based on my own personal response to seeing the screencaps. I have found that to serve me best in making choices on which BDs I buy and which ones I don't.

...and I most certainly did not drop in from AVS. I'm shocked that you would think so, considering my statement about being happy with my Gladiator Extended DVD. Considering how the posters over there analyze every pixel of BDs and are accordingly critical, I find it hard to imagine many of them being satisfied with a DVD over a BD, regardless of its shortcomings.

To be quite honest - any time I spend reading those forums over there is time I fear I will never get back.

Still, anyone who uses screenshots of a BD to determine a purchase.... well that person would certainly fit right in over there. Welcome anyway, too bad you couldn't have chosen a different screen name.

Well, that's certainly courteous.

No need to welcome me. Though I've been mostly quiet, I've been on this board for a few months.

As for using screencaps to determine purchases - I find this to work well enough. The Dark Knight screencaps showed Edge Enhancement - and, sure enough, there they were - bugging the hell out of me. I bought it anyway, because I wanted to own the film. In the case of Gladiator, I already do.

Personally, EE is about the only thing that drives me absolutely nuts. DNR, for the most part goes unnoticed by me. I think some people could tear apart just about every single release nitpicking at some kind of use of DNR. I don't tend to care too much unless it's used to an obscene amount (which I haven't found to be the case in any title I currently own).

Edge Enhancement takes me completely out of the film, though. I hated it on DVD, I hate it now on BD.

...and now it's present on my 4th Favorite film of all time. So no - I'm not paying Paramount for that.

I'll wait for the Blu-Ray.com review for Gladiator. But my day-one purchase of Braveheart still stands.

I'm such a big fan of both of these movies that even if there is a slight improvement in PQ over the dvd's I will buy them. From what i've seen from the screen caps this seems to be the case. These will be day 1 purchases for me.

Default Braveheart and Gladiator BR Review?

Maybe this has been asked already. If so, I apologize. I was wondering when we can expect the Blu-Ray.Com review for these movies? I am dying!

I appreciate there is already a massive thread devoted to these movies, but I was curious as to the blu-ray.com disk review of the films. Thanks man.

Right, which is why you should have read through and posted in that thread, so we can avoid duplicate threads (like this one) dealing with the same questions and topics.

Well it appeared you all got WAY off topic with your Pan and Scan talk and Clint Eastwood and Ridley Scott.

So I dont think my question under its own thread was too big of a deal.

It's not. But when everyone else posts similar duplicate threads, and 100s of "When is Star Wars/Indiana Jones/BTTF/Lord of the Rings/Etc." threads, etc., it adds up.

The problem is, everyone begins to think that their question is different, and deserves its own thread. Then we end up with 9 separate threads on the same title that the mods have to clean up and combine.

It's just easier to post a question in an existing thread, especially a simple on like this (that's already been answered there, anyway).

If you are referring to the DVDREVIEW site as answering my question, then you didnt read my question. I muddled through the other thread and sorry to say, but it is off topic. Like Star Trek getting DNR'd, Pan and Scan, and so forth.

We will have to agree to disagree. I have no problem with the mods needing to blend this thread with the other if they have to, but so you know, I searched the forum threads and the only thing that came up was the DVDREVIEW site which I had read already and wanted to know about the BLU-RAY.COM site.

You mean DVDBEAVER? No, I meant the super huge thread I linked to above, where is was already mentioned that review copies had not been received yet, and we should expect reviews on this site in the next few days.

Jeff Kleist from The Digital Bits explained this in one of his posts.

Hence, no need for a separate thread clogging up the main page.

This is just me, but I thought Last Samurai was better than Braveheart (for being similar types of movies). Cruise/guy who played Katsumoto > Mel Gibson.

Gladiator for me.

I'll be buying both movies, but I will wait for Braveheart to drop under $20.

holy shnauzberries... that picture of longshanks is enough to seal the deal... the detail in that shot is incredible. The crown and the chain-link... good golly, you can see the little fuzzies sticking up on his right shoulder!

Definitely going to be getting both of these...

Given the results of the poll in the original post, its obvious Gladiator is more popular than Braveheart. My preference, also, is Gladiator by a mile over Braveheart.

If Paramount had to screw one of these titles up, why oh why, couldn't it be Braveheart instead.
