PS3 Slims are out early at Best Buy, Target etc - Blu-ray Forum

Not sure if anyone is aware but It appears that some Best Buys hAve gotten PS3 slims in early. I just picked one up in my area. Anyone else seeing this?

I'm curious to hear how loud/quiet they are when you guys start watching blu-rays and/or DVDs in them. Please post back with your impressions. Thanks.

My Best Buy had a stack of slims, which were labeled "Mis-Shipped PS3s" (seriously).

As I was at the checkout counter the guy behind the counter commented that they had sold more PS3s in the last hour than they had sold the entire last month. Take that for what it's worth, he also said that PS3s weren't worth buying before the Slim.

Anyway, firing it up now. So far though it is whisper quiet.

My guess is they're putting them out when their stock on fatties is depleted?

The Best Buy I was at had a big ole stack of fatties(160 gig w/Uncharted bundle) right next to the pile of slims, so it's not universal, although I don't doubt some of the BBs would do what you suggest.

I think he meant sold out of the 80GBs. I imagine they wouldn't care about the 160s as they are a different price point than the slim.

The 80 gigs were at 300$? If so, then who cares about the slim at all? Or are you saying the dropped to 300$ when the slim was announced? I'm confused.

Yeah, got mine today at Best Buy but apparently, other places are selling them already as well.

I assumed Sylin was saying that he was thinking they were starting to put out there stacks of slims ($299) once they sold out of 80GB fats (also $299). The 160s dropped from $499 to $399, so I was just saying that I'm not sure that had anything to do with it - they are a different price point. I imagine that most stores would try to restock the 80GB with the slim totally seperate from their supply of 160GBs.

To be honest the 160s are the worst value right now considering that the sytem dropped 100 and Uncharted dropped 30, but they only dropped 100.

Edit - Terjyn, the 80 dropped with the announcement of the slim if that's that you're asking.

Just picked up a slim in OKC, OK at Best Buy. They said I was the first one to buy one today. I was surprised by that but then again most of the population probably doesn't even know it's out yet and most were at work still. can't wait to unbox and play with it tonight. Gonna move the oldschool 60gb to the living room and keep the slim in the theater room.

Asked in a local store and was told by the gaming section employee that the "Slim PS3 has not been announced". Go figure. I will appreciate a pm from anyone that knows of a Best Buy in the South Florida area selling the Slim.
