PS3 Slims are out early at Best Buy, Target etc

I stopped at Best Buy yesterday and they had at least a dozen of them on the shelf. I like the old design better (my $.02).

I finally scored one!!! Called several stores in the Miami area and was told that the Slim would release in 9/1. Called the Florida City store and they just got them today and were selling them. My brother works 5 minutes from there, and he just purchased one for me!

I got a guy coming to my house maybe to look at my 40g and maybe buying it my local BB is selling them juts not showing them yet. I canpossible pick mine up tomorrow wiht luck. Also, I wonder if Sony will lower the cost of Out-of-Warranty repairs in a year, when all the mfg warranties start wearing off.

I'm going to go to BBy to see if I can get a look at one.

I did it was weird holding it in my hands. The box it's self thought was almost as big as the fat models. a litle bit narrower but still the same size (pachkaging obviously not much smaller)

so I headed to the nearest Best Buy, and low and behold, THERE IT WAS!!



I had fixed the YLOD on my 80gig fatty three times before it completely died on me in June.. I doubt I will be getting much sleep in the next few weeks.

Is the dialog enhancer part of a new firmware update? I thought I had the latest FW version on my two PS3 Fattys, but I don't see the option anywhere in the audio settings, and I looked for it in the other menu options as well. I also don't see it on my PS3 Slim.

For $40 I went ahead and bought the BB warranty for my Slim since my first gen PS3 died on me in 8 mos. Luckily it was still under manuf. warranty because I passed on the $120 BB warranty when the unit was still priced at $499/$599.

I also picked up my 2nd PS3 last December, and at the $399 price I still didn't want to pay the $69.99 for a BB warranty. So I went with a Squaretrade.com warranty for $40 instead, though I don't have any experience with them but it seems like they mostly have positive reviews. They have an A+ rating on bbb.com, which is another reason why I used them.

Just called Best Buy here in Daytona and a girl answered, I asked about the Slim and she laughed and said " We have plenty in stock, come on by". I take it from the laugh that they must be getting a lot of calls about it.

Dynamic Range Control is, oddly enough, under Video Settings.

Speaking of your Slim, does it have the 3.0 firmware pre-installed? Or did it ship with the 2.80?

You could probably get twice that on Craigslist or eBay for a 60gb PS3, if not more. Try putting it up on CL for $200 and see if anyone goes for it? Even a month after the DSi's came out, I sold my daughter's DS Lite Nintendogs Edition for $175!

Also, regarding the modification issue, it's just a generic question applied to all consoles, as some can be modded to various degrees. Technically, if you had upgraded your PS3's hard drive, you modified it.
