Well, it'd be hard to get smaller speakers, and they do sound surprisingly decent. But with your budget, I'd definitely consider Mirage Omnisats coupled with a good receiver
Alternatively, you can also look at Definitive Technology Pro Cinema series. They sound so much better than Bose, while remaining small yet sleek.
