the US version is censored though, even if it claims to be 'unrated'.

The U.S. version is the theatrical cut, which is unrated, meaning that it wasn't rated by the MPAA.

Censored? Try "edited by the director to flow better and keep the audience intersted", as all films are. The extended cut (frequently mistakenly referred to as a "director's cut") was an early workprint, and is only regarded as an "official" cut of the movie due to the fact that it was screened at Cannes. All films are shorter than their initial rough cuts. That doesn't qualify every movie ever made as "censored".

I'm thinking KaiGusto may have meant the DOTD remake was censored in the US, even though it was "unrated."
In the (pre credits?) scene just before Sarah Polley meats up with Ving Rhames, she's parked near a bus. The naked woman (zombie?) that comes towards the car has her breasts obscured by CG blood on the windshield. In the UK DVD version, the blood isn't there.

Also, was excited about this release, but no sell for me. I have the Ultimate Edition and the US Blu.

Ah. If that is the case, then I apologize.

Thank you. Yeah the comment I replied to was originally referring to the 2004 version.

Yeah, the DotD remake Unrated version censorship was hilarious. The prudishness of covering up nudity with gore? Hello? Seem a bit wrong? Plus it caused a continuity error.

Shame it seems to have been pushed back so badly. Currently listed at March 2010 on Amazon.co.uk. Having read about all these different versions, my opinion is this: I'm really sick of "directors cuts" that undo all the good pacing work done for theatrical release. Watchmen and Superbad on BD recently are good examples. So, I'd only watch the best-flowing cut that preserves Romero's subtext. So I think I want the original theatrical release supervised (or was it physically cut...) by Romero himself.

The current one is a pretty solid Special Edition, I don't see why they would need to re-release it so soon. For £10.99, its a great price.

Arrow Rights to the movie expired and were not able to re-licence them.

so the Arrow release will not be reissued
