Is this really the cover-art:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B000NU2CY4/sr=8-1/qid=1251410681/ref=dp_image_z_0?ie=UTF8&n=130&s=dvd&qid=125141068 1&sr=8-1

Because, if it is I'm just a little peeved, I was hoping for something... different. I didn't like that cover when the Extended Edition DVD was released, and now they're just recycling it?

The movie is probably in one of those eco cases too. This release may kill me before it's even released.

The missing fireballs are in Mel Gibson's Ars so that he can shoot them in Braveheart! And if you want a real conspiracy, Best Buy started all of this so that people would cancel their orders with Amazon so they buy into the Braveheart and Gladiator minus $10 deal. (JUST KIDDING!!!)

yeah, and they're more like "forehead-palm" or even "temple-palm" things when you look at them.

Man, can you guys find anything else to complain about with this release? I truly mean no offense, but you'll get what you'll get, take it or leave it People have been waiting a long time for Gladiator....it unfortunately may not be what we all expected, but for now, it is what it is. It saddens me to see how finicky people can be when releases don't adhere to their own personal standards. Thankfully, there are some things you can change...if you don't like the eco case, spend more of your own money on blank cases. If you don't like the cover, print your own

Sorry for the rant and I apologize if this comes off as harsh...I just can't believe the amount of insults that have been thrown around with this release, especially since everyone on here is all part of the same blu-ray family I don't like settling for subpar releases either (and I haven't even seen this yet on BD so I don't know how I'll feel and refuse to make a judgment until then), but I do realize that there are some things beyond my control. When the time comes, if I'm not entirely satisfied, I'd rather stomach it and walk away than stand around and sulk But that's just me

LOL, ya I can't wait to get this disc so I can pop it in and watch it frame by frame to compare to the screenshots.

But seriously, there are a lot of misconceptions going on in this thread.

There are people being charged with defending the Gladiator disc. From what I am reading, those people are not defending the disc but rather suspending judgement. They are not saying that the problems don’t exist, but that they need a credible source before they will reach that conclusion. This is pragmatism, not paranoia.

Those withholding judgement will not look foolish if the screenshots turn out to be a valid sampling of the overall BD quality, nor will they look foolish if the transfer is nowhere near a disaster.

But all this should not be about looking foolish anyway, it’s about getting to the truth of the matter. I think these discussions are great if we can all just stay civil and talk about the facts. BTW does anyone know the actual origin of the screenshots or gifs?

Those that have the disc certainly can provide a good indication of what is likely to come, but again, unfortunately we are all just anonymous to each other and really hold no credibility; therefore I understand when many decide it prudent to reserve judgement until a known credible source can chime in on the matter.

Others are obviously happy to trust undocumented sources, and that is their right, but for those people please understand when others resist the temptation to get angry until they see it for themselves or until a few credible sources can validate the early indications.

Seriously, all this talk is actually peaking my interest in getting the disc.

"What's the matter, honey?"
"Can't you see? There are fireballs and arrows disappearing into thin air."
"But that's what they're supposed to do, right?"
"No--you should see the complete trajectory from start to finish for those things. It looks like something erased them from the picture mid-stream."
"They look fine to me. Besides, it's only for a split second."
"No--you don't get it. Someone really messed up this transfer. They used excessive DNR. See how waxy this guy looks?"
"Looks OK to me. Maybe a little too much makeup but I've seen worse in real life."
"NO! NO! NO! Someone smoothed over this guy's face so I can't count all the pores!!!!"
"Come on, you can't be serious--I want to enjoy this movie. I think it looks great."
"It's GARBAGE. They've completely RUINED it. It's total CRAP."
"I want a divorce."
