I checked the disc out and it seemed fine but really you should order with confidence. Turbine are a class act and will replace discs if there's a problem with them.

Migration benefits a lot from the extra horsepower of the disc versus the Vudu stream, it's the strongest recent theatrical release outside of Deadpool & Wolverine.
Every other shot has foliage and beaks projecting forward to set the scene or accentuate drama by brushing past the plane of the screen. 'Wow' moments are limited but there is one spectacular scene of a fork poking you in the eye. More importantly, the film was produced with 3d in mind with numerous slow-motion scenes and in-your-face perspectives that maximise the stereo. It's noticeably superior to The Wild Robot and Transformers One conversions, just a shame the storytelling here is so rote. Nit-picking I noticed the 2:39:1 framing breaks the 3d illusion in a few scenes, notably the herons, with their longer beaks sliced off. |

I'm overjoyed by this release, it is a dream come true to me. Ever since seeing Migration presented in Dolby 3D I've been desperately waiting to experience it again in its native stereo form. Thank you so much to Turbine for making this possible!
Despicable Me 4 returned to 1.85 and I immediately found the difference to be noticeable - the extra vertical real estate is much appreciated. I hope Illumination sticks with the taller AR as they used to in the past. However, I still think Migration is the greatest 3D presentation since Avatar 2, it really is amazing. |
